"So basically a girl jumped you," I said while picking off a grape from the vine and popping it into my mouth.
"She didn't jump me..." Connor denied.
"You said her hand went into your pocket after she ran up to you and hugged you. She was obviously searching for something," I explained.
"Alright, I guess she did kind of jump me."
"Ha- 'kind of'."
"Shut up," he said with a grin and threw a grape at me.
"Hey, I'm only speaking facts," I put my hands up as if to say 'just saying'. He grinned at me and then threw a grape up, catching it in his mouth.
"Show off," I told him.
"Just a little bit," he said. "Only when I try to impress people."
"As if you need to impress me anymore."
We were sitting on the swing in front of my house, letting the wind blow us back and forth while we shared a vine of grapes, talking about his tour and stuff. We also talked about my graduation which is in a few days. It's weird how I'm ending high school. It seems like it went by really quickly, as though just yesterday I was that awkward freshman back in New York, a completely different life. A lot can change in four years.
While Connor was on tour I recieved my acceptance letters to the many colleges I applied to- Boston University, Yale University, University of Penn, University of Phoenix, New York University, and so many more. I applied everywhere, for this was what I was working so hard for all of these years. I wrote endless essaies and resumes, perfecting them all to the best of my ability. In the end, I chose the best option.
"So are you going to work at Starbucks again during the summer?" Connor asked.
"Yeah, I'm starting again next week."
"Same crew?"
"Yup. Pauline started on Sunday with Brick and Joanna."
"Awesome. Do you know if anything ended up happening between them?"
"Pauline told me they started going out a week ago."
He laughed. "Really?"
I laughed a bit too. "That's what I said when she told me. Let's just say I will never doubt Pauline ever again."
"I just can't believe it... They loathed each other."
"I know! But I guess Brick liked that- the chase, I mean. The effort to make her like him."
He nodded his head in agreement. "Brick always liked a challenge."
"As seen by his endless efforts to try and do 'the coffee bean challenge'."
Connor rolled his eyes. "Don't even mention that."
I smiled as I finished off the last of our grape vine, Connor smiling back. As I finished chewing, Connor threw himself over to my side of the swing, nuzzling his head into my shoulder.
"What are you doing?" I laughed.
"Take me to Starbucks," he whined.
"What's in it for me?"
He gave me a certain look and playfully put his lips on mine, sending tingles all over my body.
"That," he said.
I sighed. "Alright, we can go, but you're paying."
"Yay," he said, jumping up from the swing, grabbing my hand as stood up. He led me to the car and I couldn't help but grin at the thought that we are indeed together and will continue to be, no matter what.
