I frantically dialed my sister. "It's crying! What am I suppose to do!?"

Megan sighed. "Zack, she's probably hungry or needs her diaper changed."

"She doesn't like me," I said, eyeing the baby carefully.

"Yes she does. Look, if you really don't think you can handle it, I'll find a new sitter, okay? But can you just handle her for tonight?"

I sighed. "Oh, fine. I'll try. See you later, Meg."

"Don't burn the house down." Then she hung up.

I dropped my phone on the ground and tried to rock the thing in my arms to sleep. "Shh! I'm trying! What do you want!?"

Of course, that made her cry louder.

"You want food? Milk? What do you even eat?" I set Emma down in her high chair and picked up my phone. "Siri," I said. "What are you suppose to feed babies?"

When Emma had finally stopped crying, I collapsed on the couch. "Okay, Emma," I said. "What should we do now?"

Emma, who was sitting on my lap, looked up at me with a cock of her head.

"Hmm, hey! I know!" I set Emma down on the couch and looked through Megan's old VHS tapes that she refused to let go of. "We can watch the Lion King. This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid."

I stuck the movie in and picked Emma up and plopped her on my lap again. "You'll love this!"

~

Okay, maybe I cried a little when Mufasa died, but who can blame me. It was an emotional part of my childhood. I may be an adult, but it gets me every time! Of course, Emma didn't understand what she was seeing, so she was perfectly fine.

I rewinded the tape and Emma started crying again. "Oh, what now?"

As I picked her up, I smelled it. "Oh, great...just perfect..."

I carried Emma into the bathroom and opened her diaper. "Eww...."

~

I was lying on the ground with Emma on my chest later that day. "Did your mom ever say when she and your daddy were going to be back?"

Emma gurgled.

"Yeah, me neither."

Emma grabbed at my face. "Hey. What are you doing?"

She started to cough. "Emma? You oka-" She spat up on me.

"I hate babies..."

~

I checked my watch. "Mommy should be home soon," I said. "Wanna watch another movie?"

I stuck in another kid friendly movie and layed down on the couch with Emma in my arms. She fell asleep before we were even a quarter of the way through, but I didn't make it much farther.

I was awoken by someone shaking me awake. I blinked the sleep out of my eyes to see Megan smiling down at me. "Seems like you did a good job," she whispered. I glanced down at Emma who was fast asleep in my arms. Megan picked her up. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. Megan ruffled me hair. "Thanks, Zach."

I smiled. "I was glad to."

"So you don't mind doing it again next week?"

I blinked. "Seriously?"

Megan laughed. "See you next week, bro."

"Wait, no!" I said. "Why-"

"Hey, I pay your water bill."

I sighed. "Fine."
