I sat on a large flat rock that overlooked the beach. It was serene, something about the way the waves curled and how they crashed onto the shore in such a fluid motion. Most people wouldn't give it a second thought, but I loved it, every inch, nook and cranny of the ocean I loved it all. The ocean had always been my sanctuary; I've been coming to the beach for as long as I could remember. I spent so much time here that I have come across my own little secret hiding places scattered all over the beach. Some of them caves, some of them tide-pools full of tiny fish, crabs, starfish, anemones and more. But most of them were big rocks, like the one I was on now, that you could only find if you climbed all the way up the side to reach the very top.

"Ronnie Mae, there you are. I have been looking all over for you!" I turned around to see Carson walking over to sit beside me.

I sighed, "You know Carson, these are called my secret hiding places for a reason. You really gotta stop finding them."

He just laughed, "Wow this place is really something huh?"

I smiled to myself, "Yup. I think this is the best place I have found so far."

It was peaceful, just the two of us looking at the water kissing the sand. We stayed like that for a while until Carson turned to me, "Come on, everyone is down on the shore waiting for us. We planned to go surfing remember?"

I grabbed Carson's outstretched hand and stood up. "Pfft of course I remember, I totally didn't forget. Nope not one bit."

He gave me a look that said you're not fooling anyone. "Sureee Ronnie Mae, if you say so."

Rolling my eyes, I lightly smacked him on the arm "Let's just go and meet the others okay."

As we were walking along the shoreline I heard these obnoxious girls behind us squealing. "OH MY GOD IS THAT CARSON? LEAH! THAT'S TOTALLY CARSON."

"YOU'RE RIGHT. OMG ANNA, CARSON FREAKING DAVIS IS LITERALLY RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!"

You think I would be used to this by now considering how often it happened. Each time was just as annoying as the last. They acted like Carson was a celebrity or something. I guess he kinda was though, according to every teenage girl at our high school at least.

"Ayyy Ronnie's here!" Bentley said once he saw me.

Laughing I told them, "Yes the princess is here!"

Something came out of nowhere and tackled me to the ground. "Ronnie! Oh my gosh how are you?!" I looked up to see the culprit who was currently squishing me like a bug. "Well I think I would be better if you got off of me." I groaned.

Alexis quickly got off me and helped me up. She looked at me apologetically, "Sorry Ronnie, I got a little excited."

I just gave her a big bear hug. "It's okay Lex; I only have a couple broken bones."

Alexis grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the rest of the group. Lianna and Asher were getting out all the wet-suits while Carson and Bentley got the surfboards. It was late afternoon so the tide was just coming in; it was the perfect time to go surfing.

"Someone toss me a wet-suit, will ya?" I asked still scanning the water.

Lianna came over to me, "Here, Ronnie I think this one is your size."

After I thanked her, I began to put on my wet-suit. I was struggling to zip up the back. Carson seemed to notice and began walking towards me. "Let me get that for you, Ronnie Mae."
