It was an ordinary old Saturday afternoon when Luke went up to his room. It was just after lunch. Luke started to kick his neon yellow soccer ball that had black stripes on it. He dribbled it around his room with his feet. Luke loved soccer. In fact, he had just gotten inside after an hour of playing soccer in his backyard.

That's when he got an idea. I'm going to ask my parents if I could join a soccer team! He thought to himself.

Luke grabbed his soccer ball and started to go downstairs, where his parents were. Luke's father was in his mid 40s and his mother was about the same age. It was tough being the older sibling. Luke had a 8 year old brother, his name was William. Will, for short.

Luke walked over to where his parents were, the kitchen. Luke took a deep breath then began to ask them. " Mom, Dad, may I please join a soccer team?" He pleaded.

"Why do you want to play soccer?" His parents asked.
"You have no talent for it anyways," his father said grimly.
Of course Luke was surprised and a little bit hurt from what his father had said. So he began to plead. "Please Dad! You both know that I've loved soccer since I was 5 years old! I promise that I will make you proud if you let me join a team!" He softly began to cry.
