"Hey everyone. My name is Rowan DeAngelis. I'm 16 years old, and I'm planning on going on Foreign Exchange to Japan.
"I've always been engrossed with Japan. The culture, the food, the language, the people. And when I was young, I thought that just watching all different kinds of anime would be enough to satisfy me.
"Well, it didn't. My desire... it actually worsened. And I wanted nothing less than to go there.
"My parents thought I was being stuck up. A little thirteen year old, just begging to go to Japan.
"Even though I was told to forget about it, I just couldn't. So, I did my research, and found that I could go on exchange when I was 16, and well, I've been saving up ever since.
"Anime and Americanized-Japanese culture would have to keep me satisfied for a few more years.
"Right now, it's October 14th, 2015. I'm leaving for exchange on January 2nd.
"I don't know who my host family is yet, but I'm staying in the city of Okayama.
"Wish me luck."

I picked up my phone and texted my best friend Wyatt. Sushi tonight?
In just a matter of minutes he said back, I can't. I'm over at Sydney's house, studying. Maybe tomorrow?

Sydney was his girlfriend. Wyatt was my best friend, so I backed off. Even though I have this massive crush on him, that I've probably had since the first grade. But oh well, he's dating, good for him. Besides, I'll be in Japan for a year, and long distance relationships are a no no.
