"Dr. Murphy, XNj163 has mutated. Its DNA is becoming very unstable." said Karen. "Stabilize it. Just don't let it escape." Dr. Murphy says. "We have tried." Responds Karen. "Then reduce liquid content by 80% and oxygen by 90% in the storage vessel. Put the base under quarantine." Says Dr. Murphy. "But why such extreme measures for such a little virus?" Asks Karen. "The squirrel we tested it on three days ago went in to an extreme state of insanity and then died."
When he returned to his office, he was checking the weather on his computer. As he was doing this, an email notification popped up in the corner of his screen. He clicked it, and it brought home to his email page. It was from the Facility Automator. This was strange, as the Automator did not usually send messages unless it was something very urgent that cold not be sent manually. The email read:
  Dear remaining bio-weapon lab faculty,
There was a slight error, and subject Z2 has escaped its vessel. There is evidence that one faculty member was infected, although nothing after that was recorded. Please lock the door of the room you are in.
There was another email, specifically to Dr. Murphy asking for permission to say this on the intercom. Dr. Murphy clicked accept, and then got up from his comfy chair to go lock the door to his room, shivering in fear.
Then, blaring on the intercom, was Karen. Her voice was strange, as if coming from behind a piece of cloth. "Please exit the building after entering the main office to take next month's schedule."
At that second, Dr. Murphy knew no one would survive this pandemic.
