*Back Again*

The war with Gaea was over. The Romans were staying one more night. Almost everyone was at the bonfire, celebrating. Why wasn't I there?

It was all because of him.

I couldn't stop thinking about him. The fact that he asked Hazel to manipulate the mist to make it look like Piper had the physician's cure. Watching Octavian, tied to an onager, hurl himself into the sky, should have been funny. It should have made my day. It was the fact that he was up there. Leo was up there, in the clouds, when the onager hit. There was Celestial Bronze on it. That stuff kills half-bloods and monsters. So, it was no surprise to me when Nico confirmed Leo's death.

So, here I sit alone in the Hermes cabin, legs pulled up to my chest. I hadn't slept since that day. Will almost forced me sleep, saying I had to sleep, doctors orders. But how can I sleep, knowing that the only thing I had ever dreamed went right down the trash.

Tears rolled down my face. Thinking of something to get my mind off of Leo, I think of my favorite song. Then, I cry even harder.

"Say something I'm giving up on you...." I sing. I bury my head in my knees, sobbing. I lay my head down, and close my eyes. For the first time in two days, I actually slept.

And I dreamt.

I dreamt that I was in some type of hallway. I could see a pair of double doors at the end. I ran toward those doors. I breathed in, and yanked one door open. I slipped in and noticed a boy, standing in the dark looking at me. The door behind me shut, and it became completely dark. A small fire sparked in the hands of the boy. The flame moved to one side of the room, where it looked to be placed in a chimney. That portion of the room lit up, and I saw the boys hair, and face.

"L-Leo?!" I yelled. He looked to be crying, but it was hard to tell in the dark. I ran toward him and he engulfed me in a hug. Now, being this close, I could hear him crying.

"Sam, I'm sorry I left. But I had to. An oath to keep with a final breath and all." He said, chuckling softly. I smiled a bit.

"Leo, are you dead?" He let go of me and shook his head yes.

"Yeah. That's how I'm able to do the 'talk to you in your dream' thing. Which reminds me, I need to take that physician's cure thing."

"What happens if you take it now?" I ask him.

"Well, Sam, if I take it now, I become alive. Then I'll most likely disappear out of your dream. At least, that's what Hypnos and Hades said." Leo has that all too famous grin on his face.

"What is it?" I ask him, confused as to why he's grinning like that.

"Sing for me, Sam. I know you can sing." I heave a sigh. I've never actually sang in front of him. But, since he's dead, I guess I could make an exception.

"Ok. Say something I'm giving up on you." I sing. He starts to get teary eyed.

"I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you. Anywhere I, would've followed you. Say something I'm giving up on you." I sing. He pulls out a small glass bottle, uncapping it.

"Well, Sam. Here I go."

"Wait!" I yell. He stops. I grab his face, and pull it to mine. He kisses me back, and puts his free hand around my waist. I pull away, back up, and nod for him to continue.

"When I return, I'll remember that." He says, before downing the cure. I start to cry, and smile at him. He waves at me and I wave back. His figure starts to disappear, and I feel like I'm loosing him all over again. My smile fades and I start to cry more. His figure finally melts away, and I slowly fall to the ground.

I woke with a start. I shot up, wide eyed. I looked at my surroundings. I wasn't in my normal bunk in the Hermes cabin. I was in what looked like the infirmary. I looked to my left and saw Will Solace, standing next to me while holding a cup of golden liquid, otherwise known as nectar. He handed the cup to me, and I sipped from the straw. It tasted of pumpkin spice coffee, the kind Leo and I had drunk often when he was alive.

"Sam, how are you feeling?" Will asked.

"I feel fine, why am I in the Infirmary?"

"Well, you've been asleep for 5 days. I wanted you to sleep, but not for that long. The Romans went back to Camp Jupiter, but you do have some visitors." Will told me. 5 days? That dream lasted 5 days? Holy Apollo!

"Ok. Can I see them?" I ask. He nods and goes to the door. He opens it and in comes Jason, Percy, Annabeth, Piper, and Nico. The room was large enough for all of us, but Nico still had to stand close to Will.

"Boy, am I glad to see you awake." Percy said. Annabeth looked at me in sympathy. Jason smiled at me, the scar on his lip twisting up as well. Piper smiled kindly at me. Nico just looked at me like we both knew something that the rest didn't. Yet.

"Hey guys." I sat up more. I smiled.

"You nearly scared me to death, Sam." Nico scolded me.

"Be nice to her, Nico. Remember what happened last week?" Piper said. Everyone looked at me and smiled softly. I smiled too, a single tear made its way down my face. Someone rushed into the front doors and came straight to the room I was in.

It was Travis Stoll.

"Connor, he found something! Please, you need to see this." Everyone but Will and Percy went with Travis. Percy managed to convince Will to go with the rest, so it was me and Percy.

"Hey, Sam. I'm sorry about Leo. It wasn't your fault. He died a hero." Percy said.

"I know, Percy. I just wish that the last conversation I had with him wasn't fighting. I didn't want him to die, thinking that I hated him. He probably knew that I hated him."

"Why did he think you hated him?" Percy asked me.

"B-Because I told him t-that I did..." I started crying again. Percy pulled me up from the bed and surrounded me with a hug. I hugged back and cried in his shoulder.

"Percy! Sam! You both gotta come see this." Annabeth rushed in the room. Percy, Annabeth and I ran out of the infirmary and into the woods. We reached a a small opening, and saw everyone crowding around something.
"What's going on?" I asked. Everyone looked at me, all of them smiling and crying. They moved in a way that makes a path through. I walked through the path, and soon reached what everyone was staring at. My eyes widened and I stopped breathing.

In the clearing was Leo Valdez, the one man who knew how to cheat death better than anyone. I covered Y smiling face, and ran to him. He caught me with ease. I held onto him, and he held onto me. I let the tears roll down my face.

"I missed you so much." I said to him. He let me go and looked into my eyes.

"I missed you too. Te amo." He said, pulling me in for a kiss. Everyone around us clapped and cheered.

"I didn't mean it when I said I hated you, Leo."

"I know, Sam. I knew you didn't mean it."

"I love you, McShizzle."

"I love you too, Thief."

And done. That took me forever to finish. But, rereading it, I think this is my best story ever. Like dam.
