The Façade

Prologue

This memory is so vivid. It feels as though it is real and happening right in front of me. I see four of my society friends, drugged and kidnapped along with me. except I wasn't drugged; they thought I was sleeping but I was just waiting for a chance to attack them- the kidnappers.

We were shifted to a minivan and it was late night. The cars were honking loudly but we couldn't see outside. I was awake the whole time. I could only see the driver and his partner. They seemed like amateurs. No masks and no precautions. The arms only included knives.

The other guy kept looking back through the rear view mirror with a scowl on his face. I don't remember his facial features. Just an expression saying, "you're done for".

I tried to shift in order to get a better glance; my eyes cast low to the floor. He caught my movement and gave me a warning. If I were to shift again, I would be the first one to be slaughtered like a pig.

That hadn't scared me the way it was intended for. I wasn't afraid for myself. I was afraid for my friends.
I waited for a while, until he wasn't alert. Then, I sat beside him. Completely Quiet.

He thrusted the knife in the air, in a threatening way. I tried to take it from him and gain the upper hand. But, we ended up in a wrestle of fists and kicks. The driver didn't care. He just laughed.

I didn't think twice. I snatched the knife from him and slit his throat and stabbed him a couple of times. Sweat droplets that were glistening on his brows before, moved over his forehead like a subway rush and suddenly. stopped in their tracks. With the same knife I stabbed the driver until he died.

My friends laid unconscious the whole time, who were now joined by the two men. In a few seconds, I started seeing the world spin a little into the darkness.
Everything felt numb and insignificant. My blood pulsed through my nerves and increased the pounding in my heart. I had just killed two men. I was a murderer now. What will I do now?

I then woke up with a banging head and the painful noise of my alarm...
