~Not Edited~

Twenty years ago...

This is it, little 17-year-old Niall thought. Their final meal as a family. Mum and Dad's divorce was final (the two of them were civil), Greg's last day at home before he was moving him and his girlfriend into an apartment, Niall's last semester of senior year began today. He was sick and tired of the name calling.

He'd heard "faggot" every day since freshman year and he'd cried to his parents so many times. He'd cried to Greg so many times. He was glad that their last night together was the day he chose to leave. He'd have happy memories to carry on with him to whatever happens after we die. He used that thought to reassure himself. Yes, I want to do this.

Niall's father had hugged him so tightly, "see you next weekend, buddy." He mumbled and kissed Nialls head. Next he hugged Greg.

Niall hugged his brother so tightly, "woah Ni. You're acting like you'll never see me again!" Because I won't. Niall smiled a bit and blushed.

"Sorry." He mumbled. He'd told all three of them how much he'd loved them and he'd dismissed himself to his room. He'd wrote each of them a note, telling them briefly that he was sorry he had to be so selfish, but he had to be happy. He told them how much he loved them. He wished them luck and he told them he'd watch over them.

He glanced at his room one last time, made his bed, folded his laundry, kissed each of the letters and silent tears fell onto his mums. He was so sorry. It just had to be this way. He sat on his bed.

Bobby had been gone no longer than an hour before he returned, "I forgot some things." He'd told his now ex wife and she nodded, allowing him in. He'd walked up to what used to be their room and grabbed a couple of his bags and then made his way to the gun safe. He unlocked it and his eyebrows furrowed together when he realised one was gone. "Maura? Did you move my-"

Bang!

Bobby's eyes grew large and he dropped his things. He ran over to Niall's room -the source of the sound- and Maura popped up next to him as quickly as she could. "What was that?" She asked as Bobby opened the door.

Immediately neither of them knew how to react. Maura running to her baby's side, wanting to vomit. he couldn't be gone, he was laughing with them no more than two hours ago. Bobby called the police and an ambulance. Obviously Niall didn't make it... But both parents didn't want to believe what was in front of them.

So much blood...

Niall was so sorry.

Seventeen years ago...

Three years after Niall's suicide, Niall still lingered in his old home. He was watching after his mum, making sure she knew he was there. She'd talk to him and he always tried to respond. Sometimes he'd lay in his mums bed and just watch her sleep. He'd caused her so much pain.

After those three years though, Niall's mums best friend had needed a place for her and her baby to stay. She was single and Maura had allowed her to move in. Maura hadn't wanted to turn Niall's room into a nursery at first. She wanted it exactly how Niall left it. But Niall assured her it was okay.

Karen took over Greg's old room and her baby boy, Liam, had Niall's old room as a nursery. They painted over the white Walls and gave it some colour. Blue. Niall loved blue. Liam was a few months old when Niall first sat next to his crib. He just watched the baby sleep for a while.
