Listening to the sound of my teacher talking might as well put me to sleep.
It's only been a week since I started my senior year in high school. But it feels like an eternity and I'm already anticipating graduation, so I can get out of this hell hole.
Yes, hell hole high school hasn't been exactly kind to me, in fact it has been very cruel.
Let me tell you why.
It all started freshmen year, my parents started having problems arguing every single day, and pretending like everything was perfectly fine. They always thought me, and my brother were oblivious to their constant battering.
Then sophomore year came along, and my parents finally got a divorce. My dad moved across the country to start a new life with a woman well if you can even call her that; she's half his age might as well be his own daughter. He abandoned Ethan and I leaving us with a dysfunctional mother at the time; who started drinking due to the loss of her husband.
By the time Junior year ended I realized my so called friends had stopped hanging out with me overall. I went into a deep depression only wearing sweatpants and hoodies; so they thought I wasn't good enough to hang out with them, they were embarrassed by me. Instead of being real friends, and helping me through the tough times they abandoned me just like my dad did.
The great outcome of all of this was meeting Elisabeth Lockhart. She came into my life at a time I desperately needed someone, and stayed by my side through it all. She was my wall, and I found myself constantly leaning on her for support.
"Are you listening to me?!" My best friend asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see a furious Liz, nostrils flared and lips pressed together in tight line. Those light green eyes had lost the brightness they once held, and were now a darker shade of green.
If looks could kill, hers would definitely do the trick.
"Sorry I spaced out," Liz rolled her eyes at my lame excuse; she then glanced at the desks in front of us before directing her attention back to me. Soon her scowl was turned into a known smile.
"You always do Ave," she waved her hand dismissively. "As I was saying when you so kindly decided to space out Ayden Brooks doesn't stop staring at you."
Liz tilted her head to the desk in front of us; my eyes following her quick movement. And there he was indeed staring my way, practically breaking his neck to catch a good look at me.
Ah, Ayden I remember having the biggest crush on him in the beginning of my Freshmen year, actually my entire childhood. The thing is he never once noticed me.
"He's totally checking you out," my best friend cheerfully said. I turned my head to find Liz staring between me and Ayden; her jade eyes glinting with hope. She's been wanting me to get a boyfriend so I can go on double dates with her, and her jock boyfriend Cole. Something I'm definitely not looking forward to doing.
It's not that I have anything against Cole. Well maybe I do but in my defense, he's rude, bossy, and has cheated on my best friend multiple times. Yet Elisabeth forgives him every single time; claiming and I quote, "He wasn't thinking right when he did that. He loves me and I love him."
I have no idea how he got someone as great as Liz. Cole is decent in the looks department, but nothing compared to Elisabeth who's drop dead gorgeous with a body to kill for, and with the most beautiful jade colored eyes.
"Maybe you should go talk to him?" Liz suggested brushing her shoulder against mine, teasingly.
"We are in the middle of a lesson," I pointed towards our Math teacher, who was currently writing an equation on the white board.
