Connor Grayson - Monday afternoon

"YOU BOYS should know better then to just start fights in the middle of a hallway. And I did not not expect to see that from you Connor. Just because you might have trouble fitting in here doesn't mean you should start a fight to grab peoples' attention."

I was about to disagree with her comment when...

"It was my fault Miss. He asked me to leave him alone but I didn't listen. I was technically asking for it."

What? Ten minutes ago he was bruising my jaw and now he's covering up for me?

"Is this true Connor?"

I looked at him and he gave me a 'just go with it' look.

"Yes Miss. I asked him a couple times."

She looked at the both of us as if she was waiting for the truth to come out but eventually gave up.

"Well because you also hit Jake, you will also be doing community service, but only for 2 days and Jake you will have a week of community service."

"What?! How come he only gets three and I get a week?!"

"Because Jake, this is not the first time you have been in this situation."

I smirked realizing that he probably regrets his kind gesture. I look at him with the corner of my eye. He's glaring at Miss. Lane.

"Go back to class boys."

"Oh.. and boys! Try not to get into anymore trouble." With a smile I left the room.

Jake nudged past me hitting my arm with his shoulder.

"Come on Jake.. you walked straight into that one."

He stopped in his path and slowly turned towards me, I could see him clenching his fists.

"You're not getting away with this next time Grayson. You're lucky you've got the teachers on your side.. for now."

He turned away and walked around the corner. He doesn't scare me. He thinks he's all that but he really isn't.

"Hey honey. How was school?"

I didn't know how to tell her so I just said..

"Fine."

I got dressed and went to eat dinner with her.

"What happened to your jaw?"

I didn't want to lie to her but then again I didn't want to worry her.

"Oh I was at sport and
we were playing rugby and the ball hit my face."

"You don't have sport on Mondays.."

"Well I had a special one today."

"Connor the principal called me today."

Crap.

"You could have just told me Connor. You didn't have to lie to me."

Crapps.

"Don't you trust me?"

Crappity crap crap.

"Connor!"

"Sorry.. sorry! I just didn't want to worry you."

Silence.

"Well?! What happened?!"

"Nothing! He just wouldn't give me my space and wouldn't listen and he hit me so I hit him back... twice."

I was playing with my food trying to avoid eye contact.

"Connor!"

"Sorry! He needed to learn his lesson.."

"Not like that Connor! You know better then to just hit people because you think they deserve it and because you think that you're teaching them their 'lesson'. You should know that."

"That's different mum. Two very different situations."

"It's the same meaning. Violence is not the answer."

"I hit him because he hit me! Dad hit us because he was on drugs and alcohol!!"

"Thats not the point Connor.."

"No?! Then what's your point mum?"

"Connor.."

"I don't have time for this."

"Connor!"

I went to my room and slammed the door. I didn't want to think about him right now. I didn't want him to have any impact in my life. But I think he all ready has..
