I swing my fist at the man across from me. My left arm aches and I now have a split lip, but he is in much worse shape. Finally, my foot makes contact with his stomach and he doubles over in pain, giving me the opportunity to pin him.

"Time's up!" A woman's voice rings over the intercom. I help the man up and he shakes my hand, nodding, "Nicely done."

I smile as I saunter away confidently. Not even bothering to knock, I walk straight into the larger-than-average office that the voice was broadcast from. Medallions, plaques, and certificates line the walls, and newspaper clippings are plastered all over the large bulletin board. I've been in this office enough times to recite the exact words of every award and article in the room, if I cared to do so.

"Hello, Aubrey," the tall, dark-haired woman sitting at the desk said, completely emotionless. She clearly had been expecting me to come.

"I'm ready for my assignment."

She looked me over, scrutinizing my every move, trying to psych me out. "Alright," she agreed a few moments later. "But remember, you are a spy above anything else. Do not fail another mission. It would be a shame to send a young woman with so much ability and potential to solitary confinement. Again."

"Yes, ma'am. What's my mission?"

"Jonah Taylor. Ring any bells?"

"He's the CEO of Comstock Enterprises, second richest man in North America, lives in McCarthy, Virginia."

The woman nodded in approval.  "He is one of the most influential people on the planet.  Unfortunately, he is using his power to illegally steal money, documents, personal information, etcetera, from the company, and sell the information.  We need to get proof and catch him before any more damage is done."

"What will I do?"

"Here is the file with everything you need to know."  She hands me a thick black file, organized into several sections.  "Good luck, Aubrey."

"Thank you."

I tuck the folder into my bag and open the door.  "Aubrey- you will be kicked out of the organization if you mess this up.  Don't fail."

"I won't let you down."

"I'll believe it when I see it. And go clean up your face."

"Bye, Mom."  I shut the door and walk away.

Most of my chapters will be longer than this, I just wanted to give a little preview of where Aubrey was coming from and her situation.  Also, I apologize for the formatting.  I typed this up on my phone so the formatting is probably strange.
