" Nick, can I ask you a serious question?" Alex asked.
Alex was back in her cell, her right leg was in a metal brace and her eye had medical tape above it, covering a small scar. She had been better these past two days since she had been brought back but she was still in a bad way. The avengers had seen her staring in to nothing and just staying that way for hours until one of them went to chat with her. Even then she seemed strange, trying to act upbeat. Finally, Nick had decided to check it out himself. He could see what they meant even though she was acting better these past few hours she was still acting strange.
" I suppose you may," Nick answered with a raised eyebrow.
" While it's all good and well been stuck in here, I haven't been to school in three weeks and they are going to start getting worried soon," Alex said.
" You go to school?" Nick asked in surprise.
" What do you think a thirteen year old does all day? I'm enrolled at Greyburn Academy, that school not to far from here," Alex said with a smile.
" I didn't think a girl like you went to school, isn't it hard to blend in? you know, they scars and the yellow eyes," He asked in confusion.
" Let me introduce you to a girl's favourite weapon, makeup. The foundation I use hides the scars if I put it on right and there is such thing as contact lenses, although mine mask my eye colour, it makes them brown," Alex informed.
" I don't know about school, you seriously want to go, what thirteen year old actually wants to go to school? Although, I can't let you out anyway," Nick inquired.
" I want to see my friends and I love history and English classes. Besides, I've had plenty of opportunities to escape, if I was going to then I would've done so earlier. If it makes you feel better you could even send one of the avengers with me as a guard," A,ex offered eagerly.
" I suppose, but if it doesn't go well then you'll never go again, understand, besides I do owe you form the Loki escapade," Nick said, clearly not enjoying this.
" When will you trust me?" Alex asked.
" Never," Nick answered.
" Well aren't you a bundle of fun," Alex said with a sly grin. When morning came Nick Fury wandered in to the cell complex. Alex was facing away from him but when she heard him enter she turned and smiled brightly.
" I'm ready for school!" She chirped.
" Well, today you will leave school directly when it ends and will arrive early, take your books and stay out of sight," Nick informed.
Alex nodded.
" Who shall accompany me?" Alex asked hopefully.
" I cannot let Thor come with you, he is too outlandish. Banner can't either in case he loses it. Tony is too popular and well known so I am sending Natasha and Cap to come with you. Natasha shall stay with you all day posing as a teacher, Cap will take you back here when it is over," Nick informed.
" Sir, what subject am I teaching today?" Natasha asked as she walked in.
" You're teaching History," Nick answered.
" My favourite!" Alex said with a grin.
" Are you ready?" Natasha asked.
Alex nodded and instantly her clothes switched from her usual attire to a silver coat, black pants and black boots, her hair was tied in a pony tail and foundation covered her scars. Her eyes were brown due to the contact lenses.
" Well, that's affective," Natasha noted with a satisfied smile.
" Use it all the time," Alex confirmed.
The cell door was opened and Alex walked out, cracking her neck and knuckles as she went.
" Hope you can hold your breakfast down Natasha, this'll be fun," Alex cackled as she unfurled her dark blue wings.
" I don't think that's a good idea," Natasha stuttered.
" How else do we get down?" Alex asked her. She took Natasha's hand and hovered above the ground, waiting for the doors to be opened.
Nick pressed the button and the doors opened, Alex flew out in to the morning sky as fast a speeding bullet with Natasha trailing along by her hand grip alone.
" I'm glad that's not me," Nick muttered. With a sigh Alex drummed on her desk with her fingers. Natasha was an amazing fighter but her history skills weren't exactly up to scratch. This was her last class of the day and it was dragging in and on. They had only been in class for five minutes but already she was finished the history sheets that has been given to them. She could tell that they were from google but that didn't bother her. Everyone else in the class were staring at the ceiling, trying to figure out the first question. Alex was an absolute nerd when it came to schooling, history excited her and she had already known the answers. Natasha winked at her from the front.
Were they hard?She mouthed.
Yes, Alex mouthed back, lying easily.
Natasha grinned and continued to pretend to mark previous work.
Alex jumped when something landed on her desk. She squinted through her contact lenses at it but opened it up. It was a note, crumpled to form a projectile. Alex saw that words were inscribed on the paper. She read the words silently.
Dear Alex:
I've missed you these past through weeks, I've been trying to tell you since you got here but I couldn't say it. Okay, I'm just going to come out and say it, I LOVE YOU and I want to meet you tonight. Can I meet you at the school stadium, we could play baseball tonight. Meet me at 7, wink twice if you want to come.
