They say love moves in mysterious ways. Like it will show up to the moment you least expect it. I believe in that, actually. And if you're going to ask why, I'll tell you my story...
It was probably the hottest day in our school. There were sweats all over our bodies as we continue to run in circles in the field. It was P.E., one of the subjects I hated the most, and it's also track and field which was really tiring. I was not also the sporty-type of girl. I got so tired easily. I have weak lungs, if you would ask me. And now, it was kind of embarrassing because I was the one left behind.
We needed to run for ten laps and I was still on my third lap. Everyone was already on their fourth, or fifth, or sixth... I didn't know. All I knew was that, they're ahead of me.
"Carter Young! You're two laps behind," Coach Moore shouted. Yeah, like I would care.
Group of students passed by me again and I couldn't help but groan in frustration. My crush, my ultimate crush since freshman year just passed by me. And not just that, he smiled at me.
BAM!
I fell on the ground when I bumpedonto something hard. When I looked what it was, it was a post I hadn't noticed that was there before. Oh, my nose.
"Are you alright?"
And I would gladly bump to another post if he's the one who's going to ask if I was alright again.
Stephen Bryant was standing before me, panting. He had sweat all over his forehead and some of it were trickling down her face. Oh, how I wished I was one of those sweats.
A snapping finger pulled me out of my trance. It was then that I realized that Stephen was not the only one standing in front of me. The other students were also there and even Coach Moore.
"Who will take her to the clinic?" Coach Moore asked the crowd. If I could open my mouth right now, I would say Stephen. But since I was still trapped in my daydream, I wasn't able to say anything.
"I'll take her," someone said. Who said it? It didn't look like it was Stephen who said it. Who could- Oh, my gosh! I groaned internally. Not him.
"Okay, Aaron will take her. Everyone else, continue with the run."
And so, slowly, the crowd disappeared in front of me and a smirking Aaron was left behind. Even Stephen who asked me first was nowhere to be found now.
I glared at the guy in front of me.
"Now, now, Carter. Not the right time to get all furious. Your nose is bleeding. Let's get you to the clinic," Aaron said, helping me to stand up.
"Why do you have to be the one?" I asked, sarcasm filling my every word.
He mocked a pain expression at me, putting one of his hand over to where his heart is. "You don't want me to help you?"
