"Babe did you see the pentaholics? They're blowing up every social media!" I called as I walked in the apartment, looking at my phone. "I love them." I whispered to myself.
"Babe?" I called again, putting my phone in my pocket. I took a step further in the apartment, realizing it smelled different. Flowers, there's a bouquet on the table but this is, different. Roses? I took in a recap of the room, it looked like no one was home but he didn't say anything about going out. I took out my phone and sent a quick text.

   Scotland: U home?

Nothing, no response. He normally answers pretty fast but, nothing. I took a few more steps, about to start a full-house search when I realized how strong that smell was and how weird the floor felt. I looked down, roses, petals to be exact and there was a path of them.

"Babe?" I tried, a little nervous. No answer. Fuck it lets do this, follow the rose petal rode. I did and it lead to the patio door, I was excited but nervous, lord knows what's behind this door but rose petals lead me hear so it had to be good, right? I pulled up Snap chat - wanting to share the moment - and hit record as I opened the door. I got a quick recap of the room and hit "my story" as quick as possible. I wanted to let everything soak in but that was a little hard.

My brain was whirling as I stood in awe, a smile stretching from ear to ear and my vision blurring. I put my hand over my mouth in my usual innocent five year old "who me?" position as I chuckled and tried to blink back anymore tears. We walked to each other, meeting halfway and engulfing each other in a hug. When we pulled away he grabbed my hands in his and looked in my eyes, we were both crying and trying out damnedest not to let the rivers flow.

"You did all of this?" I choked

   "You like it?" He asked

I nodded, then leaned in for a kiss which then lead to another hug. I pulled away first, gawking at the amazing scene in front of me.

"This is amazing, it's beautiful, it's-"

   "For you." He finished

The flowers, the table setting, the lights strung over head, for me. Why? What could I have done to deserve this? He walked over and pulled out a chair, motioning me to sit.

"Stop thinking and enjoy." He said. I nodded and sat down, shaking off the thoughts.

   "Champagne?" He asked

"Oh yes please." I answered. He chuckled then replied with "Of course."

He pulled the dome off of our plates. I looked at the plate then at him, my face covered with a mix of confusion and delight.

"Celery root and mushroom lasagna." He answered

"Oh! Fancy." I replied with a smirk, digging in. "Oh my God." I said with a mouthful, covering my mouth and rolling my eyes back.

"You like?" He laughed. I nodded, taking another bite. About halfway through dinner everything was going great, but I had to ask.

   "I have a question." I stated

   "Yes?" He answered

   "Why?" I asked

   "I'm sorry?" He replied

"All of this is amazing, but why did you do it?"

   "A little late birthday present."

"But you've already done so much."

"It's something for us. Almost every time we go out someone else is with us. I wanted something for just us.

   "I love you." I whispered

"I love you too." He answered

Time flew by. We talked, laughed, had little gushy moments here and there, and a few kisses were stolen. It was probably a good twenty minutes after we had finished dinner that we had realized we were finished. While handing me a small bowl he said, "Desert?"

   "Yes please." I answered

"It's a bittersweet chocolate creamy." He stated. I looked at the bowl, slightly confused then looked at him and said, "Chocolate?"

   "Yes." He answered

"That's all I need to know." I replied, taking a bite. We repeated what happened when I took a bite of the lasagna then laughed at the déjà vu moment. It was probably only five minutes after we finished desert that the door creaked open and all of my friends spilled into the room while singing happy birthday and one of them carrying an ice cream cake. I sat back in my chair with a huge smile and laughed. Tonight was going to be great.

Once the Queen B Power Hour started we ended up getting separated. I knew the night would last a while so I sent a quick text.

   Scotland: Thank u 4 tonight. I love u.

I love you too. : Alexander
