I sighed as the Luna squealed and ran into another store. This woman was eight months pregnant, and was off the charts. This was the first time her mate has allowed her out of the house in like three months. And let me tell you it took some convincing. I cringe just thinking about yesterday and the loud, erm, noises that came from the Alpha's room.
I step into the store after her, my nose crinkling at the smell of heavy perfume. I scan around the room, looking for the Luna's brown bouncing curls between the racks. I finally catch a flash of her swollen body practically running for a red dress hanging up across the store. Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath trying to control the anger that was bubbling up. Keeping up with the Luna was like keeping up with a three old who had just gotten a free pass to Disneyland. I jog over to her and slap on a fake smile. "Please Luna, don't leave my side." I say politely, trying to cover my annoyance.
"Opps! I am so sorry Charlotte. I'm just so excited to be out of the house! Hayden has kept me locked up for so long..." She continued to babbled on, rubbing her round stomach as she picked up the red dress she had been looking at. I quickly tune her out, only nodding my head at the right intervals. I was too busy to allow myself to be distracted by the Luna. She was a sweetheart, and I thought the best of her; don't get me wrong. But the Alpha had specifically made me her close bodyguard because of my unusual 'talents'. I knew if I didn't do everything in my power to protect the Luna I would be torn to shreds...literally. Alphas were known for their temper, and their tendencies to rip people apart that held anything of threat or failed to protect their mates. To be honest I hated most Alphas. They were arrogant assholes that thought they should get away with everything. That they deserved the best of everything; and that they were the best. I could not stand them. Alpha Hayden was not so bad. But I can't imagine how the Luna puts up with his possessiveness. I would have chopped off his balls and ran for the hills months ago.
"Oh Charlotte this would look amazing on you!" The Luna gushed shoving a short purple dress towards my body pulling me from my thoughts. "Oh my god, you have to get this!" She said giggling. "If your future mate ever saw you in this..." She babbled on once again. I ignore her. There was no way in hell I would wear something like that. For one I was too fat. Everyone said that I was 'curvy', but I wasn't fooled. Curvy was just another word for a girl who was fat. Second of all, that dress was way too slutty. I politely told her no thank you and did a look over the room for security reasons. That's when I noticed them. Four huge buff guys glaring daggers at us. They all had pale sickly skin, and their eyes had a milky film over them, like they were dead guys walking around. The six of them were sitting outside an electronics store trying to blend in, but failing miserably. I quickly pushed my mind, flexing it out like a muscle, and into the biggest guy who was no doubt the ring leader.
His thoughts were dull and very hard to grasp on. It was like he was on a different fuzzy frequency.
"Kill the guard....capture Luna....he will be please...."
I instantly pulled my mind back and was pushing the Luna behind me and towards the exit, making her drop all her cloths that she was going to buy. "Charlotte? What's going on?" She asked panicking, her arms wrapping around her huge belly on instinct.
"Some men are following us." I spat out. As we walked I put my finger up to my ear and pushed the small button on my ear piece that would contact emergency back up. "Back up is on their way, just breath." I say putting my hand on her petite back comfortingly, while also gently pushing her forward trying to speed her waddling up a little. We push past snotty kids and parents as quickly as possible. I could hear them grumbling about rude teenagers as we pass. We finally got down the end of the humongous hallway next to a perfume store when I glance over my shoulder. They were following after us, all six faces absent with any kind of human emotion. Fear twist in my gut painfully, and a hold back a shiver to do the only thing I can think of; run."Go, go , go." I mumble to the Luna, practically shoving the perfume seller that was trying to con us inside the store. When we got outside I stopped and the Luna looked back.
"Go on ahead. I'll keep them busy. Here are the keys, run and do not look back. Do not come back for me." I command her, throwing the keys her way.Her eyes glisten and she opens her mouth to protest. But before she could even get a word out, the beasts busted through the front of the mall. "GO!" I screamed, begging the Luna to listen. I feel my heart sink as I fear her fast footsteps smack against the concrete away from me. I was now on my own. I quickly turn around and take a deep breath to attempt to push the fear down.
The ring leader stood in the middle. He was by far the tallest, biggest and meanest looking of the bunch. He had tattoos scattered all up and down his powerful ripped body. His brown greasy hair was messy. His purple lips curl back to display rotting teeth. I could smell him from ten feet away. And let me tell you he smelled awful: he smelled like blood and something rotten. His clothes were revolting, ripped and wrinkled with stains covering the original color of the flannel shirt and jeans. He had the look of a zombie down to the tee. I would figure a zombie weak, but the sickening waves of power and the insane look in his black morbid eyes made my stomach sick and terror swirl in my body. What was worse is that I couldn't see anything around this man. He had no aurora, like he was dead, soulless. Out of all the evil I have seen, he was by far the worst. Even his lackey's had dim black auras around them, but with him there was absolutely nothing. Panic built into my throat and I wanted nothing more but to curl up in a corner and hide from this beast.
His eyes, like black holes, darted to some of his lackeys and then shifted to where the Luna had ran. I let the fear fill my body: I let it paralyze me like I had been frozen solid. I gave myself five seconds, one...two...three...four... five. And then with a deep breath I flex my mental muscle out to the rogues and began conflicting as much pain as possible. I give them aneurysms in their brain, popping veins that would heal back in time to pop them again. I did everything in my power to delay them; breaking bones, tearing muscles. I even made sure the leader broke a leg, in hopes that he would not be able to run after me. They all withered on the ground in excruciating pain, groans and curse word filled the air. But when I look over to the leader, he was only on his knees-small growls exiting his mouth. His eyes connected with mine and with a scream/growl he stood with is right leg at an awkward angle and his dead insane eyes slanted in determination. I was the target, the prey. This beast did not care for the Luna anymore; no all that mattered was my suffering. I had caused her get away, and I was going to pay for it.
The horror of him did not stop my attacks, in fact I tripled them. While some of the smaller ones were down I ran towards them, my hand plunging into their cold chest to rip out their hearts. By the third man my hands were shaking uncontrollably. These thing's hearts, did not beat. It was a cold slimy brown lump, and sometimes a part of a lump. I could feel my resolve and power waning and I knew that I couldn't keep this up for much longer. Using my powers had costs. Like feeling drained, or using so much that you black out and don't wake up for several days. Before I could even think I running the other direction I felt the energy that I had released on them snap back with a force I was not prepared for. My vision was filling with black dancing dots, and my knees buckle. My breaths are ragged and my head swimming. I didn't get much time to recuperate because strong cold hand close around my throat, strangling me. I fought weakly, clawing my fingers across the moist dead flesh. The dancing black dots swell in size till my vision is gone and the pain in my throat take control and I fall away.
