It feels like I've woken up from an eternal dream,
The sound of lapping water feels so sweet.
I stood up on the boat,
Carrying my lost soul
As I stared into her eyes
Which reflected so many goodbyes.
Death stared at me and said that she was sorry,
But I was her latest soul,
That she was to ferry.
I shouted that she was lying!
I tried to believe I was just dreaming,
How could I've died when I've felt no pain?
Why was she lying? What was she trying to gain?
Then she said with tears in her eyes...."How can you feel pain, o sweet child?
Your heart's not just broken,
Honey, it's been shattered!
The screams from the void would fill me with tears,
Your eyes were red from crying forever!
The howls of your lovelorn spirit was too much to bear,
By giving you freedom, I've done you a favour.
Sail with me through this eternal river,
With me by your side
May you now rest in peace forever!"Her words take me aback,
No! This cannot be!
I can't die now!
Not without trying,
Death said it was futile,
I was better off dying,
But what does Death know?
There were so many things to tell "her",
Before I was to depart....
I wanted to tell her,
That when she was with me,
I would be so star-struck
And I'd forget to breathe.
Her deep black eyes were crystal clear,
I can never forget them,
It's a beautiful picture.
Her soft voice,
Soft as music.
And her smile.... Oh her smile!!
I can't help getting lost in them for a while!Death listened to me patiently,
In the end she said that we can never be,
I told her I didn't care,
No! That wasn't important!
Death seemed surprised then asked me why
I wanted to ask her,
"Oh my dear sweet love, are you happy?"
Death seemed to cover her face in a shroud,
I told her, "Listen ma'am
True love isn't just being with your soul mate,
But to see her smile and be happy always!"
