Roger POV

I walk into the office to find a new folder sitting on my desk. Can it be? I rush over to find out.

"It's for the kidnapping case." Jim says, noticing me reading the contents of the folder.

"So they found him? They know are guy?" I say, almost shouting with joy.

"Well kinda. They said the Camry was left at a gas station in north Atlanta, and a green jeep went missing. A cashier said her ex boyfriend walked in with his girlfriend Jamie, but no one else. She said she didn't notice anything suspense going on outside." Jim said, making my heart sink. After one of the victims died, I really wanted to tell her family some good news. The only thing we know is that's here driving a green jeep.

"Wait, doesn't the owner of the green jeep know his license plate?" I said, hope fluttering again. After working as a detective for 23 years, never have I had a case this difficult.

"The vehicle was announced stolen before our suspect stole it." Jim says.

"I guess I need to talk to the family then..." I mumble.

I whip out my phone and call Shandra.

"Hey. I have some information." I say sternly, words bolting out of my mouth. I explain the whole situation, leaving the other line silent.

"So basically, they are farther away from us, with no extra information?" She screams, making my face fall. I can't control this mans actions! It's not my fault!

"At least we now they are as far as Atlanta and we know what car they are driving!" I spit, angry at myself. My boss used to always tell me to never take it personal. But I have to. I just do.

I took put my iPhone and went to notes. I scrolled all the way to the bottom. My goals. The only thing not checked off was this.

•Finish current case by beginning of school year.

Well, tomorrow is the first day of public school. I feel like a failure.

Janine POV

I always hated the first day of school. Always have, always will. But today was different. Today was my first day of high school. I was planning on spending it rating boys and making fun of girls with my best friends but......

As I walked to my locker, I ran into somebody. My nose went numb and my things flew everywhere. I cursed in under my breathe and looked up to see Greg.

"What are you-"

"Your nose is bleeding!" He says, interrupting me. "Let me take you to the nurse."

I look down at my hands covered in blood. Fantastic. I ignored every one and followed Greg's lead to a room.

"Oh dear!" A young women said. She was really cute, looking about 20 ish. She rushed me to one of those nurse cots and made me lie down. I hope she knew my stomach was fine.....

"Here. Stuff these in your nose." She said, handing me tissues.

I rolled them up and stuffed them in.

"Thanks!" I said naisily. I sounded so stupid. I probably looked it too.

"So as I was saying earlier, what are doing here?" I question as the nurse leaves.

"I'm a sophomore. And I'm guessing your a freshman?" He responded. I feel like a cougar, liking an older man.

"Wow. I can't believe we're at the same school. It's like it was..... " I trailed... Finding the right words to finish the sentence.

"Meant to be." He finishes. He leans into me, pressing his forehead to mine.

"I'm sorry about your nose." He whispers in my ear.

"T-t-that's ok." I stutter as he leans in closer.

"I'm really happy you're here, Janine."

Then he kisses me. Nothing like ever before. I grab his hair and run my hand up his shirt. We just sit there, kissing to no end. he puts his hand in my shirt, unclasping my bra. We kissed for what seemed like 7 minutes in heaven, until the nurse barged in.

"Oh my!" I heard her shout.

I abruptly ripped away from Greg, my cheeks heating up. My hand went straight to my bra, quickly clasping it back on.

"I... Uh...... Um....." Greg stuttered. "Hope you feel better. See you in science." He said, nodding and walking off.

"I'll just.... Um...... Get going." I said, lowering my head in embarrassment.

"You and Greg would make a cute couple." The nurse said, surprising me. Hot Greg and nerdy Janine? The girl who is new? The girl with no friends?

"Thanks." I say looking her in the eye. She was smiling really big, making me blush more.

"Come back at lunch to change your bloody tissues." She said jokingly.

I had almost forgot. I kissed him with two white things in my nose, making my voice naisily. He kissed me in my ugliest form, and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed every last bit of the warm kiss. It was meaningful. Not just a I-feel-bad-your-best-friend-died kiss. It was an I'm-going to-go-for-it kiss. I really liked him. Like... A lot.

I'm reeeeeeaaaaaallly sorry!! Its summer for me, so I never really type anymore. Also my "editor" was at my school and I don't see her daily any more. So excuse any mistakes. I know it's really short, and I may not post the next chapter for a while. Hopefully no one reads much in summer. :)

Sincerely and with great regret,

Claire
