-IN THE HUFFLEPUFF COMMON ROOM THE NEXT MORNING-
"Alright, students. I have an announcement to make." Began Professor Sprout. I exchanged looks with my one of my best female friends, Clara Lester.
"This year, as corresponding with the Triwizard Tournament, an event called the Yule Ball will take place. As the name would suggest, the Yule Ball is a dance." Immediately, all the boys groaned and the girls began quietly giggling and chatting among themselves.
"Now, now, students. Because this is a very formal event, it has been decided that you all should learn how to dance. Any volunteers?" Cedric Diggory tentatively raised his hand.
"Alright then, Mr. Diggory, come on up." Amid scattered applause, Cedric walked to the front of the common room.
"Now, place your hand on my waist, and take my other hand with your free hand." Cedric obliged.
"Now, one two three, one two three..." As music began playing, Cedric and Professor Sprout began twirling around. Cedric looked wholly uncomfortable. They spun to a stop.
"Now, boys and girls, find a partner, and begin practicing. This is for a grade!" The boys looked extremely uncomfortable with the current events, but they all grudgingly got to their feet and paired themselves with a girl. I looked around awkwardly, and finally made eye contact with Brady Tennant, a boy in my year that I had several classes with. He made his way over to me and bowed.
"May I have this dance?" I smiled at him and curtsied.
"You may." We began dancing. We kept tripping over each other's feet and laughing until the music stopped and it was time to go to classes.

-IN POTIONS LATER THAT DAY-
"What do ya think of the Yule Ball, Draco?" I asked, as I poured some crushed lionfish spine into my cauldron.
"I think it's going to be okay." Draco answered distractedly. His potion was a deep purple; it was supposed to be a light green.
"You gonna ask someone?" I continued, stirring my concoction. It was a dark, forest green. Better than purple, anyway.
"Yeah, probably." Draco responded, actually looking at me. He grinned, and looked back at his potion with a cute, confused face. "Is it supposed to be purple?"
"Don't think so, mate. Look here." I pointed to an instruction in the ink-splattered potion book we were sharing. "Add ½ a teaspoon of doxie eggs, stir until potion is green."
"Crap. Don't think I did that." Draco said, placing down his spoon, looking defeated.
"Hey, you'll get it at some point!" I said encouragingly, and turned back to my potion. It had finally turned a semi-light shade of green. "I think this is done." I announced. Draco looked at my potion longingly.
"How did you get so good at that?" He asked.
"Learned from the best." I said with a wink. Draco smiled, a real smile, not the kind he gave his cronies when he did something particularly mean to some poor first-year. I had told him to stop doing that; he never listened. He had actually stopped bullying for a week when I threatened to stop talking to him if he didn't stop bullying kids younger and weaker than him. I poured my semi-perfect potion into a flask, and went to Professor Snape to turn it in.
