Honeycomb Beach 50 mi, the pale sand colored sign read as we drove by t and came off the exit. My mother was jamming out to her show tunes and I stared off into the distant ocean I could finally see. I always looked forward to coming to this familiar place, because it just seemed I don't know, right? I guess so. It seemed as if I belonged here for the summer, like had I gone with my father to New York I would probably dread the whole vacation.
I let the music on my CD player flow through my body. I was big into music and was proud of my love for oldies and rock legends as well as world renowned jazz enthusiasts. I was barely 13, but it seemed like I was older. This was simply because I have a very strict father and goofy mother. I noticed, as well as my amazing best friend Caylette, that I definitely took after both parents in equal parts. Caylette. Oh man, she was the main reason why my heart began to race as we passed another sign showing off the obnoxious 20 mi marker closer to HB.
She was the most prettiest girl you'd ever seen. Her eyes were a bright hazel, her hair was dark and mysterious like her personality, and her laugh showed off the well kept bubbly side that she only let me see. Okay I know what you're thinking: I'm in love with this girl.. Well maybe that was true by like 200% but I mean I just couldn't help myself I mean we were brought up together so it was bound to happen. She had no idea about my feelings though, never had a clue as to what I was thinking when she walked into the cafe with that dress that hugged her blooming body for her 13th birthday last year..
I kept preparing myself for this summer because this summer was the summer I was going to tell her how I felt. There's something about his place that makes it easier on me to admit to her the truth. Maryland had that warm effect on everyone that resided within it.
