"What are you doing home so late young man?" Cas's mom questioned idly. "Ugh....... Mom, we've been over this already. I was busy killing monsters with Dean and saving the world. Again." Cas sighed, trying not to show his annoyance. "Are you sure?" His mother asked, smiling. "I thought you and Dean were killing demons this time?" She asked teasingly. Cas grumbled to himself. "Why can't she ask me all this tomorrow!?" To her, he said "No mom, that was yesterday. We were busy flushing out a vampire nest and chasing the stragglers around the Blue Ridge Mountains all day." He sighed. Didn't she remember anything? "Whatever you say, dear." His mom said absentmindedly, going back to reading her cooking magazine. Cas mumbled a quiet "Goodnight." and hurried up the stairs, his right arm stinging slightly when when he bumped into the railing. "No one ever believes me." he sighed, shaking his head, a small smirk on his face. "Oh well." He pulled his right shirtsleeve up to look at the small gash he had gotten from tripping over a log. He had been chasing after Dean to help kill the vampire clan they'd uncovered in an abandoned old shack about 20 miles out from the Moonshine Motel, when he'd tripped and fallen flat on his face. The Moonshine Motel was also where Dean, his brother Sam, and their dad were staying for the next month or so. Cas quickly pulled off his filthy clothes and hopped into the shower directly adjacent to his room. The hot water soothed his sore muscles and fried brain, and he let out a soft sigh. After 5 more minutes, he shut off the water and hopped out, drying himself off speedily. He grabbed a roll of gauze and wrapped a fourth of it around the medium-sized cut on his arm and fastened it with medical tape. "Ahhhhh...." he sighed. "Much better." He pulled on a pair of warm gray faded sweatpants over his boxers and climbed into bed. He smiled to himself, thinking of what his mom would say if she found that what he'd told her was true. He let his thoughts drift, and by the time he was about to drift off, in his mind there was a slightly hazy figure with apple green eyes and a red plaid button up shirt holding a knife and grinning as he plunged it into a vampire's chest. Dean turned and gave Cas a small, friendly smile, right before the darkness enfolded him.
