Chapter 1 Human X Ant

In the midst of ruins, in the city of Shin, the city that got attacked by nuclear weapons, Gareth was born, his mother died giving birth to him in the refugee camp.

Growing up in such place, all Gareth knew was work, even before he could speak, he would go to work with his father, from the early morning until sunset, once they got home, his father would drink himself to sleep, with cheap liquor, and Gareth would try to sleep quality, fearing waking his father, Gareth was allowed to go to bathroom twice a day, and not after his father slept, not to wake him up, he was not allowed to make noises while he was sleeping because he would wake his father up, his bed was old and shaky and would make an annoying sound when Gareth moved around, even breath would make a sound, once his father beat him bloody because he woke him up with that noise, so Gareth learned how to sleep quietly and hold his bladder at night

Gareth loved his father for a couple of reasons, once when he got sick while he was younger, his father stayed up at night and took care of him, and he never told him to leave, "don't bother people" his father frequently told him, which Gareth respected because it was the only thing that his father "gave" him, he always learned from his mistakes, so he doesn't repeat them and make troubles for "people"

Sometimes Gareth didn't sleep and walked to a nearby town to watch anime through the window of a small house, Gareth loved anime a lot, and it was his only amusement when he was a child, even though he couldn't hear it, he learned to understand plots from a limited number of clews

One day a man who for some reason hated Gareth, started telling him hurtful things about his father, "how come your drunken father still alive is beyond me, he is a worthless piece of shit, just like you" the man insulting Gareth didn't make him angry, but the man insulting his father did, when Gareth told the man that he loved his father, and that his father is a good father, the man laughed out loud In  mockery, then Gareth couldn't take it anymore more and attacked him, the man got furious and started beating Gareth very hardly 'don't bother people'  Gareth was soon on the ground bleeding, the man put his feet on his head and said "your an idiot for thinking your father loves you in anyway, he doesn't ask you to leave because you bring him money, and remember when you got sick, you survived because your neighbour forced himself in your house, he took care of you, not your father ,do you know what your father said when he was told that you might die" said the man and pushed harder with his feet 'don't bother people'.."do you know what he said, he said 'I don't care what happens to him', that what your father said kid" finally finished the man.

"your lying" shouted Gareth crying "your a lier" and it only made the man more angry, then Gareth saw his father 'don't bother people' his father took a deep look in his eyes, seeing his son being beaten nearly to death, and simply walked way, Gareth watched in horror as his father looked him in the eye and didn't even flinch.

'Don't bother people' Gareth though

"Don't bother people" said Gareth to himself

We are all flesh and bones
We all rise and we all fall
We all end up in the same hole
Because we are humans after all

"Don't bother people" Gareth told himself "No ,he meant 'don't bother Humans'" Gareth corrected himself "I must not be a human, not to him"

Gateth got back home with blood all over his body, all the while telling himself "not to him" and remembering his father's face and cold look "I don't care what happens to him" ran though his mind over and over as he continued to say "I must not be a human, not to him, to him I'm just an ant"
