Cas woke up to the sound of his alarm clock ringing in his ears. He smacked the button to quiet the hideous riiiiiiiiing of the alarm clock and groaned. That was the best night's sleep he'd had in days, and it didn't help that today was Saturday, and that meant chore day. He sighed. "Great." he muttered. "Chores. I'm sooo excited." he grumbled sarcastically. He pushed himself up on his elbow, still sore from the previous day's chase. As he rose up out of bed, his sore right arm screamed in protest. "Ow! That's just great." he mumbled while rubbing the sore spot. "Chores and a bad arm. This day's off to a great start." He stumbled out of his sweatpants and boxers and got in the shower. He stood in the hot water for as long as he could until he heard a loud "Cas!" from downstairs. He though he heard another voice too, but he couldn't be sure. The water and heat was making his brain fuzzy. He rolled his eyes and called down "Just a few minutes, mother!" He turned off the water and dried himself off slowly. He looked in the mirror before he left the bathroom. His raven hair stuck up in many places and his cobalt-and-azure eyes had dark purple rings under them. His sleepless nights the past few days were starting to wear on him. He stared, surprised, into his reflection's eyes until another call of "Caaaas!" broke him out of his stupor. "Coming!" He yelled, trudging out of the bathroom and putting on his boxers, a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a dark gray hoodie. He took the stairs two at a time and got to the bottom of the steps just as his mom was making breakfast. He could smell bacon, eggs, and cinnamon, with a tangy citrus smell he couldn't quite place. He took a deep breath and walked into the kitchen. What he saw there made him inhale in shock. His mom was at the stove cooking scrambled eggs in a large frying pan, but that wasn't what had startled him. A familiar, plaid-laden, smirking shape was in his mother's kitchen. Dean Winchester was sitting at the table, eating bacon by the forkful. He also had a slice of Cas's mom's famous Cinnamon Apple Pie on his other side. I knew I heard another voice! Cas thought triumphantly. Just then Dean looked up at that moment and saw Cas staring at him. "Morning Cas. Sorry to scare you like that." Dean said and flashed his brilliant smile. He took a bite of pie. "Wow..." he mumbled through his full mouth. "This is the best pie I've ever had! Thanks, Ms. Novak!" "Why, thank you Dean!" She smiled warmly at him. "I think I'll bake you another one to take back to your brother and father." At that moment, Cas realized that he'd been standing with his mouth hanging open in surprise. He closed it quickly with a snap and hurriedly sat down at the kitchen table. "Dude. You never told me your mom could bake, much less make the best pie this side of the Blue Ridge Mountains!" Dean exclaimed. Cas just stared, dumbfounded, at Dean. He finally snapped out of it when his mom asked what he wanted to eat. "Cas, hon, what would you like to eat?" He jumped and said "Uh.... E-eggs and bacon, p-please." he stammered. "Oh, and some grape juice, too. Thanks mom." "No problem, honey." She said happily, and went back to scrambling her eggs. "Dean, what are you doing here?!" Cas hissed when his mother had turned her back. "Can't a friend just want to see his best friend?" Dean said and smirked. "I'm being serious, Dean. Why are you here? Are the vamps back? Do you have a case?" Cas asked quietly, slightly worried now. "Cas, I just came to ask if you wanted to see the newest Hunger Games film, Mockingjay Part 2, or not. Sam won't come with me, but I wanna go because Jennifer Lawrence is freakin' HOT." Dean said enthusiastically, swooning. That made him relax. Cas smirked, instantly ready with a comeback. "Don't tell me you have a crush on Katniss Everdeen just because she's a badass killing machine!" he teased. Dean blushed and shot back at Cas "At least I don't have a crush on Kristen freakin' Stewart!" Cas cringed. "That was a year ago, ok?! You win." he pretended to pout. "I'll go with you as soon as we eat. I'm starving!" Just then Cas's mom came over and set a plate full of bacon, eggs, and toast with a glass of grape juice in front of him. She had Dean's freshly made pie in the other hand. She handed it to him and smiled lightly. "Thanks mom!" Cas said, and dug in. "You're welcome, sweetie. Oh, and you're excused from chores today. You and Dean go have a good time at the movies. You deserve it." Cas looked up in shock. "Are you sure, mom? I coul-" But she cut him off. "Yes honey, I'm certain. Now hurry up and go have fun." she said and handed him a $20 bill. Cas scarfed down the rest of his food and guzzled his grape juice while Dean grinned. As soon as he was done, Dean grabbed his pie, said "Race ya to the Impala!" and took off out the front door. "Bye' mom!" Cas shouted and then ran after Dean, leaving his mother to shake her head with a slight smile on her face and begin to clean up the house.
