Another year older, another day colder
You're growing up, up, up
Nothing's going to stop you
Hate or destroy you.
You've got the world in your hands
Almost thinkin' you're a Man
Stop.
Don't think you're invincible
The world is unreliable
Dig up information
about this damned nation
Know it's a battleground
Sh... don't make a sound
Listen to the cries, cuts, and bruises
Of those who've been used, abused, and
pushed around. I only want you to understand
The world is made up of skin and bones
Rattlin', Shakin', and Breakin'
Watch as people smile and Fakin' it
Because they are dead inside
I want you to realize
How hard it is to be the outcast kid
It's better to be you than trying to fit in
Don't let it hurt you,
Hate or destroy you.
I taught you better than that
I expected you to be better than that
For my sake, mom's and dad's
Years from now, it won't be half as bad
It'll get better (I promise)
Just look at the changing weather
Don't let it resonate in your heart
Because one day it'll tear your mind apart
And
Please understand
Be stronger than me
Smarter and quicker than me
Be freer than me
Be whoever you want to be.
Just don't forget who you are
Don't lose yourself to the stars.
Because if I lose you to the sky,
This will be my final good-bye.

PoetryVolume no. 2 Another tightrope walk through my mind. Older and Smarter. I've got a better understanding of the world. PS It's not traditional poetry. So don't say that it isn't, because I know that. Thank you.
