Tap, tap, tap.....Tap, tap, tap. the same noise echoed across the corridors of the house; it was s if someone had been intentionally doing this to agitate Emma. It was even more unnerving as it was the first time in half a year that Emma had been allowed to stay n her house alone, without any adult supervision. Her parents ha become fearful after watching the news and hearing about the three teenagers who had been massacred in their own home after being left alone.
what had worried her parents more was that all three murders were in their own town. The town was still considered to be very traditional and based on its old catholic principals. Emma's parents had move to this town after she was born; hearing that it was renowned for its safety and well educated schools. her parents had more modern way of thinking, therefore they made the decision not to not take the current situation too seriously; leaving Emma on her own.
The small tapping sound she was hearing had turned into a constant load thumping; it was as though the noise had turned from small tiptoeing to load, hard footsteps. the agitation Emma was feeling had turned into full on fear. her heart was racing a thousand beats a second. she felt if a knot in her stomach had started to tighten very quickly.
closer and closer....that was how she felt the noise was coming, suddenly Emma shouted "hello!!...Who are YOU! Th-This is my house, LEAVE! "
Emma stopped for a moment. the noise was still coming, she was certain it was coming faster and faster. Over and over. Emma at this point, was in tears that did not show on the outside where that thing could see her but inside hidden form everything around her. She started crouching on the floor and putting her hands against her ears just trying to banish the noise from coming to her. she crawled under the table and whispered to herself "it's okay. there's no-nothing there .....there cant-t be.."
her whole body was trembling, her mind completely blank. the noise kept coming closer and closer and closer. it now felt as if it was in touching distance, breathing down her neck. "STOP!" Emma screamed at the top of her lungs.
in an instant the bad feeling, odd vibes and strange noises had decreased. But didn't stop. Emma took one breath in, releasing all her fear and one breath out, taking in a lot of relief. She got up from the staircase over and over; when she was certain nothing was coming, she turned around and ran back to the living room locking the door behind her.
something had popped into Emma's mind. When she turned around she was certain she heard a faint but hear-able noise; a word. The word might have been faint but she was certain that the word it was trying to say was no. it was as if the thing that was tormenting her was actually answering Emma when she said stop. Emma wanted to search her mind deeper for the answers to her conscious or subconscious thoughts; she couldn't figure out what was right or wrong.
she couldn't take this anymore. Emma walked over to the telephone and went to dial her parents number, the number you are trying to reach is not available." she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Emma knew one thing about her parents and that was that they always have their hone available so she can reach them no matter what the time. She tried again. Ring ,ring ,ring ,ring ,ring . someone picked the phone up. "Mum! oh my god. thank god you picked up the pho-
" they won't answer. you should know that by now that no one can help you. N.O O.N.E" said the same voice she heard near the staircase. Emma was now trembling and breathing very quickly and heavily. she kept whispering to herself "no, no, no, NO, NO, NO!" she just couldn't believe what was happening and dint want to.
Emma thought of something: her mobile. this thing that was trying to hurt her might not let her phone anyone using the telephone but it doesn't mean she couldn't use her own phone . she ran to rake her phone from the table, when something that looked like a dark, thick and back fog had ran towards her an slashed a knife across her face. there was blood dripping across her face and now she was unable to see anything from he right eye.
Emma kept trying to get up but something was slowly pushing her down again. she finally got back up but it felt like a giant pair of hands had come and pushed her backwards. Emma fell backwards and when she did, somehow the rope from the chandelier, that was dangling on top of Emma, had become tangled on her leg and was now slowly unravelling.
the rope had quickly started to disentangle itself from Emma's leg, she saw a black fog that had an outline of a man. Emma saw that there was something in its hand. it was the kitchen knife she had left on the table. he came over and sat on her waist. In a blink of an eye the knife was stabbed deep into Emma's stomach. He slowly took the knife out ,allowing her to take in every last bit of the pain and stabbed it back in again. He this several times and each time he dug the knife in deeper
the black fog released Emma from his grasp and her head plummeted to the ground with blood heavily dripping out of her mouth. The rope holding the chandelier had now released and smashed into a million pieces. each piece of glass piercing al her organs but she had already experienced too much pain to feel anything.
