Anna's POV
I walked into class, again. I've been doing the same thing for 3 weeks since the school year started. I'm a typical soccer player. All I want to do is play professional soccer, but everyone knows that's not going to happen.
I sit in the absolute worst place. Dylan on one side of me. Adam on the other. And Liam behind me. Sure they're all cute, and nice. But, they can get annoying.
Today wasn't really that big, we just really sat and did work. I finished my work early so I had a bunch of free time. And Adam finished not too long after me. We sat in silence waiting for everyone else. I looked over at Adam occasionally. His somewhat long brown hair, and brown eyes always seemed to be perfect. Every time he caught me looking at him, I'd turn away and then out of the corner of my eye I could see him looking at me, smiling. That seemed to go on forever, until Adam finally spoke up.
"So... I was wondering if you wanted to practice some soccer moves with me at lunch?" He asked, moving his chair closer so he wouldn't have to speak so loud.
"Um sure... just the two of us?" I Asked. To be honest, I kind of liked him. He's was a pretty cute guy, he loved the same sport I loved, and he was really nice. But he was awkward, and I remember, he was the guy who kept yelling hand ball at my sisters soccer game. He was going for the other team. We always had tiny little arguments, but we never spoke, we just kind of stared at each other with the 'you better shut up right now you good looking person rooting for the other team' but I found all those little arguments cute.
"Yeah, who else do you know who plays soccer?" He asked, not really asking because no one else in our school really played soccer at our level. It's pretty boring playing soccer with people who don't know how to kick a ball.
"Hah okay point proven" I smiled with my teeth for once. He smiled back at me. I hated my smile though, I had the worst teeth, and a huge over bite. But that's not even the worst part, I still have 4 baby teeth because they won't fall out. To make it worse I'm 16 and I can't even get braces until the summer. So basically next year, because it's only the 3rd week of October.
The teacher noticed we were done, and asked us for a favor. We had to walk from the south building all the way to north to pick up papers. So we both got up and left.
Adam began running like an idiot, but I didn't want to run.
"Adam stop running!" I called after him.
"Why" he called back.
"Cause' I don't want to run today." I said. He stopped, and began walking back to me.
"Rep soccer player can't even walk eh?" He began, "Well you are only in rep, cough, cough, C. The lowest level of professional soccer" he joked.
"Oooooh" I said, raising an eyebrow. "I just started goalkeeping in august, and the a month after I start, I make rep. Now it's been like 3 months and I can actually dive like a proper goalie, please were both good don't even start" I laughed. "But you are better at kicking" I admitted.
He smiled. He knew he was better because he plays academy soccer. An even higher level than rep. Academy is better than rep A, B and C combined. I wasn't really that good because I actually started training with my left foot- which is apparently my good foot- the month I started goalkeeping. And that's when I really started trying to get good. I've been playing for 3 house league seasons, but my coaches never really taught me much. Now, these last 3 months in rep, I've really improved and I'm just so proud. But my last season before rep was the first time I won a first place trophie. We won in penalty shootouts. So it felt like it was thanks to me that we won.
Adam has been playing since he could walk, of course he'd be in academy. I tried to not let it bring me down, but sometimes I just feel disappointed that I didn't start soccer when I was younger. But there's nothing I can do now except train to get better.
Adam finally pulled me out of my thoughts.
"Anna? Annaaaaa? Hello?" He said, while waving his hand in my face.
"Huh, what?" I said, finally making my way back into reality.
"I've been trying to get your attention for the past 5 minutes but you were zoned out so hard" he laughed.
"Oh" I managed to get out "I'm sorry, I was just thinking"
"About what?" he asked.
"Don't worry about it" I said, but I actually wanted to tell him.
"I'm going to bother you until you tell me" he smiled. We exited south and started walking to north.
"I don't know, I guess I was just thinking about how you're Academy, and I'm only rep C. But then I realized that I started goalkeeping, which is the reason I'm in rep, like 3 months ago. You've been playing soccer all your life and I just wish I played soccer all my life" I said.
Adam had a sympathetic look on his face, "Anna it doesn't matter how good you are. I know you want to play professional, and you will. All you need is the love for the sport and the training. Plus, many professional players weren't gifted. Like Ronaldo. He trained. But don't worry, you'll get there. And I'll be with you the whole way" he said. He was so Comforting I loved it.
We made our way to north and got the papers. Now back to south. We were half way there when the bell rang.
"Lunch!" we said. Then both of us sprinted to south to drop of the papers, get our stuff and hang out by the feild.
