I wake up slowly, trying to figure out what woke me up. There's a beeping sound, and I quickly realize it's my alarm clock. Groaning, I smack the clock, shutting it off. I pick up the alarm clock and check the time. 7:30. If I don't get up right now, I will be late for school.
My name is Pandora. You're first thought was probably "Like from Pandora from Pandora's box?" I am Greek, so that's where my name comes from. And also, it was a jar, not a box. I didn't come here to teach you about Greek myths (even though I would love to), I came here to tell you about my friend Carl. Carl is a guy that I've been friends with since 3rd grade, and we haven't left each other's sides. He has done so much in the 16 years he has been alive, and that's mostly because his parents spoil him. There are so many things he has done, there is no point in listing them all. Just think of the coolest things you can think of, and he's probably done it.
Any way, as I get dressed, my dog comes into my room and runs around at my feet. She's my adopted parent's dog, but I take care of her, so they pretty much gave her to me. Sadie, my dog, licks my bare toes and continues to jump around my feet. I look down at the wiener dog and frown. I love her, but she's really weird.
I finish dressing quickly, run down the stairs, and greet my step mom. "Hey, Gloria. What's for breakfast?"
"Food," Gloria says and she points at some over cooked toast. "Hurry up or your going to miss the bus!" I grab my toast, sticking it in my mouth, slide my backpack over my shoulder and haul ass to The bus.
As soon as I get to the corner, I realize that Carl may not be coming to school today. I frown, and the bus comes to a stop right infront of me. The doors open and then I hear Carl's shout.
"Hey! Wait! Wait for me!" I step onto the bus and tell the driver to wait a moment. Carl quickly catches up and slides into the empty spot next to me.
"Over slept again?" He nods. "Mondays after breaks suck."
"That and my stomach doesn't feel that wonderful."
"If you barf," I point to the seat across from us that's empty, "do it there."
He laughs and the bus pulls into the school drop off area. We both thank the drover and then quickly leave. "He hasn't changed." Carl points at a douche bag named Paul Woods who was towering over a really small freshman. He would follow Carl around before my family moved into the neighborhood and beat him up. Now, this was stopped when my parents saw how he was treating Carl, and I have made sure he hasn't done anything more to Carl. Carl and I both watch out for each other when it comes to Paul, or anyone for that matter.
"I know. He's a douche. Remember what happened last years when we tried to stop him? I almost got suspended." I watch Paul walk away from the kid, and the poor guy was trying to gather all his books. I walked over to him and help him with his things. "Hey kid, I'll tell you right now. All you have to do is say that a guy named Paul Woods was acting up again, and he will never bother you again. Go talk to your first hour teacher about it." He nods and I smile. "Have a great day." He stands and runs into the entrance of the school, going to go do what I told him to do.
Carl walks over to me. "You certainly have a way with people." He puts a hand on my shoulder, but I quickly shrug it away. "Anyway," the hurt was clear in his voice, "let's get this done and over with."
