A World Without Color

A world without color is no world at all. Without color, how do we know what we see is really anything special? Color reflects emotion, beauty and sensations. Without color, our world is dull. In black and white.

That's the world I live in. My name is Ender. I live behind the walls of Algaryon.
And someone took our magic away.

I slowly opened my eyes a bit only to shut them again tightly. The sun was so bright! It hurts. Groaning, I tossed the sheets over my head and once again, I was at peace. "Get out of the bed!" Before I knew it, I was rolled out of the bed and on to the floor. I groaned again but, had no strength to try and get up. I was turned over on my back and was sat on. Right on my stomach. They were heavy too! It only could be one person. "RED! GET OFF!" I shouted as I pushed the covers from my face and grabbed the collar of his shirt. He instantly grabbed a hold of my hair. Another one of his hands raised and grabbed my face and my free hand did the same to his. "Let go!" He shouted at me. "No, you let go!" I said back. We'd always end up fighting everyday and, as the same on every other day, our mother walked in and broke us up. Jeez was Red annoying! Are you sure I'm not the oldest!?

I was a bit tired. Waiting for the light for so long, I barely slept. Bun-Bun use to stay up with me and watch them but, she got bored of it. Pfft, if you could see it how I do you wouldn't be. I wonder what that blue light is and what it does. I have so many questions.

I walked into the woods to pick the berries I didn't pick yesterday. I couldn't wait to eat what mother had in mind for us! I walked over to a river and rinsed the berries off in it. They sure did look delicious!

"Ender~." A female's voice whispered and echoed through the woods gaining my attention. I didn't like it.

I looked around. No one was around. Before I went back to work, the voice echoed again. "Please, come to me Ender."

I stood completely and looked around more almost in a panick-like manner. "I do not wish to harm you. Now, quickly. Over the river and head straight." I sighed and followed her directions. Hope I don't regret this. Stepping into the river, I crossed and went forward. Her voice beckoned me to keeping going. As I did, I eventually came face to face with the walls of Algaryon.

I stood amazed at it. "I'm behind this wall. Please, I must speak to you."

I didn't think. Instead, I climbed eagerly. The wall was stone and covered in strong yet old vines. I honestly always wanted to do this! I'd be stopped by others if they saw me doing this. They say it's danger, I say it's adventure. It's a new world over there! My hand slipped and so did my foot, but I continued onwards. I soon reached the top and climbed half way down before slipping off. I sat up and frowned in pain.

I looked up to see a woman with long dark hair, black eyes and pointed ears. She had a black robe on and carried an expression that told she was bothered or concerned.

"Ender. You made it." She said as happily as she could. I nodded. "Why did you need me?" The woman moved a hair from her face. "You must bring back the magic to the places where it is lost."

My eyes widened. This woman was nuts! I shook my head. "I can't do that. I'm just a villager and nothing more! How can I do something like that! Sorry, you must have the wrong person." I turned to climb the wall again disappointedly, but I couldn't. The wall was suddenly too smooth to climb. It was rough and climbable last time I checked.

"Ender, you are so much more that that. I've made no mistake coming to you." I turned around. I know she did this to the wall so I could listen to her. So, she much be magical in order to do that! At the moment, when she told me I was so much more I wanted her to explain. "Your white hair and extremely light blue glowing eyes do not tell you something?" She tilted her head a bit. I shook my head. "My mother told me it was from my father." I said matter-of-fact like. "She lied." I looked at her stunned by her comment. "Your father had black hair and dark green eyes." She said. My mother lied to me? What she just said, is it true? "I am your ally Ender. I'd never lie to you." She said and had my attention once again. "You are born of magic." I said nothing. The things she was saying were unbelievable. My whole life, I was unaware. I wanted magic to return to us, but I didn't expect I was responsible for it! Not to mention to other places away from here! "Ender, I need you to see me again in three days in the Tesseract Realm. I can stay no longer. The wall is expelling me."

"No! Wait!" I shouted, but she faded away. How did she know me and my family? And if I'm magic, why isn't the wall regecting me as well?

I turned to climb the wall and saw it was normal again. Yep, it was definitely magic she was using. I began climbing.

I got home in the evening and forgot the berries I was suppose to be bringing home. I was too lost in thought to remember to get the basket. "Ender!" Bun Bun screamed out and ran towards me as I emerged from the woods. Her two black pony tails swayed as she came and squeezed my torso. "I was worried about you! We all were! I came looking for you and I saw our basket tilted over with the berries you were picking and...and.." Bun Bun teared up. I grinned a bit at the little bunny girl hugging me and hugged her back. "It's ok. I'm fine. I saw something shine in the woods and went to go get it." I said lying. She seemed to not care and just squeeze me tighter until I stopped breathing. So much strength for a little bunny girl.

I was yelled at by my mother and brother when they say me. I was surprised to see Red so mad. I don't think I've ever seen him this mad before especially with me. Everyone panicked when Bun Bun said I disappeared I guess. At least she took the basket for me. Yet, I was still grounded and told to stay in my room for the rest of the day. I didn't mind. I needed to think and sleep. I needed to think about that woman and if I should believe her. I know I'm not magic. Bun Bun is the only magical creature here, more or less.

How the hell am I suppose to bring them magic back to this place?

"The wall is expelling me."

I remember that lady saying the wall was expelling her, so the wall must be enchanted. Meaning if I destroy it, it will have no effect on the village.
I can't destroy the wall though! This people will be devastated and turn on me and my family. Maybe if the wall lost its enchantment?

I rubbed my head in frustration. "Ugh! This is too much!" I decided to sleep early so I could see the light tonight.
