song of the chapter; yonce by beyoncé

"grab your tickets now, they're selling out fast!" michael, the student council president, piped over the speakers. "the dance will be on friday starting at 9!"
lucy rolled her pale eyes and went back to filing her nails.
"got a ticket, luce?" james came over and sat in the seat next to her. she shook her head, not looking up from her nails. "well, aren't you lucky then."
he laid a bright red slip on her desk and grinned cheekily.
"ugh, james, I hate these things. they're so dumb." she groaned, flicking at the paper. the tall boy reached over and slung his arm around her, leaning in close.
"maybe bringing a bottle of tequila will make it less dumb?" he whispered. she instantly perked up, snatching the ticket off the desk and tucking it inside her bra. you know, to keep it safe.
"don't worry, love, you won't regret this." he kissed her cheek quickly and turned away.

*ashton: I assume a too cool senior like you won't be attending the school dance?*

, her phone screen read. she peeked at the message and scoffed, opening the conversation.

*lucy: of course I'll be there, along with my friends tequila & cherry vodka.*

*ashton: well, I hope they'll save me a dance*

*lucy: a little young to get started now, aren't we?*

*ashton: oh please,,,*

lucy raised her eyebrows. this was gonna be more fun than she thought.

"ash, you've never even touched the stuff." calum laughed, toying with the 20 dollar bill in his hands. they were stood patiently in line at the movie theatre.
"yeah, well, there's a lot of stuff I haven't touched the I'm willing to touch!!" he huffed, combing his fingers through his gold locks. calum smirked and moved up in the line.
"she's gonna notice, man. you can sense that kind of thing." the dark haired boy carried on. "you're gonna look hilarious."
ashton shoved him and folded his arms grumpily.
"maybe the vodka gods will spare me and make me look like a pro." he joked.
"oh, young grasshopper, the vodka gods spare no one. now, buy your damn popcorn." he motioned to the counter.
the boy huffed and pulled out his money, buying them some food. they carried it out to the theatre and were almost there when they bumped into two girls.
"oh, hey guys!" one of the girls chirped and hugged them.
"hi, maxine. hey, jane." calum greeted. they'd met the girls at school, they played soccer like calum and ashton. "you going to paranormal activity?"
they both nodded.
"so are we, great!" he scratched the back of his head. "you can sit with us?"

ashton's arm had officially gone numb. jane wouldn't move her heavy shoulder off of it, so there was no more blood rushing to it. he'd considered moving, but that would disturb calum and maxine hungrily making out next to him.
he groaned to himself and pulled out his phone, trying to pass time.

*lucy: wyd*

he grinned and instantly replied.

*ashton: trying to watch a movie but calum and this girl won't stop making out :(*

*lucy: u at the Cineplex in the mall?*

*ashton: ye unfortunately*

a few minutes passed and she still hasn't replied. he sighed and tucked his phone between his legs, trying to adjust his arm.

*lucy: come out :)*

ashton looked at his phone with a confused expression but got up. jane whined loudly and he sent her an awkward smile. he just about bolted down the aisles and out of the door, hoping to get away from that scene as soon as possible. he looked around when he got out, but nothing was out there.
like an angel descending from heaven, lucy swayed down the towards him. she wore a pale blue hoodie and her usual skin tight black leggings, hair in a messy ponytail. a bright pink piece of gum snapped between her teeth.
"well, hello there, ashton." she smiled sweetly. he gulped and smiled back.
