Sometimes when our worst nightmares comes true,we cry,maybe we see a shrink or sometimes we just let time heal our wounds.Because when our worst nightmares come true with them comes a sense of fear.Which is exactly what Nina is going to face.What would she do? Will she cry? Or will she be brave and face the harsh reality?

The glass was cold against Nina's face,raindrops were pouring outside one by one just like Nina's eyes were ejaculating tears,one by one.There was a sense of despair around the room.Sitting by the window in the cold room Nina recalled the call that changed her life.

"Aish,sweetie pick up the phone,Sis is making food for you",said Nina while putting the boiled pasta in the heated pan.

Aisha her younger sister,who was playing with her dolls reluctantly let go of her doll's hair and went to recieve the phone.

Nina could hear her younger sister,Aisha murmuring in the phone.After a minute Aisha screamed her lungs out,"Sis,they want to talk to someone elder they say,they think I am young crazy people don't know Aisha is a big girl".

Nina laughed while poring the freshly cut vegetables in the pan."Aish I will tell them sweetie you are big girl,I am coming tell them to wait",Nina said while cleaning her hands.

"Wait,an ELDER is coming",Aisha screamed out on the phone emphasising the word elder.

Nina walked throught the kitchen to the dining area, while the phone lied on the wooden oak table.She held the reciever and closed it near her ears.

"Yes,who is this?", Nina aked politely.

"Am I talking to Miss Nina Van Der Woodsen, the elder daughter of Mr.Robert Van Der Woodsen and Mrs.Sonia Van Der Woodsen?",asked the person on reciever.

It was a masculine voice,the voice sounded tense.Suddenly Nina felt pancked.

"Umm..Yes.How may I help you?",she asked.

"I am calling from Mercy New Ways Hospital,your brother, father and mother were in a car crash.Your mother is doing just fine while your brother and father have just passed away.I am so very sorry for your loss Miss.Van Der Woodsen.I'll ask you to come to hospital as soon as you can come" said the person on the other side of the phone.

But the phone had already dropped from her hand.Her mind was whirling with the news she just listened,she could hear the murmuring of the person from dropped phone.But she refused to pick up and listen.she needed to calm down and think.That's when it suddenly hit her father and her brother were no more.

After 24 hours have passed since her elder brother,Caleb and his dad have passed away.She went to the hospital leaving her younger sister at her neighbour's house.Her father and brother have died on the spot from the car but her mother survived.She was physically fine but mentally she was so shocked that she wouldn't talk to her own daughter.The news came as a disaster to her younger sister Aisha,when she got to know her playful and naughty brother won't be there anymore.

The tears were still streaming down Nina's face when her uncle Sam entered the room.

"It's time Nina,everyone's here." whispered her uncle.

Nina automatically got up from the window,wiped her tears away and tucked the black cap in her head.She picked the paper and went out of the door straight to her car.After a 15minute drive to Rosewood ground, were her father and brother would be buried.She got out of her BMW X1.Nina's family wasn't a rich one but they were also not poor.The had enough money to fulfill their three children's wish.Her father was a buisnessman and was known by many people.Despite Nina's refusal for a fancy funeral,her uncle Sam decided to make it a wealthy affair.The gound was decorated with white flowers around.There was a crowd of weathy people.Nina didn't knew all the people there,she barely recognized anyone.But she didn't care.She would give the crappy speech she wrote and will be on her way back.Nina stumbled through the ground and went to the stage which was also decorated with white roses and white satin ribbons.Everyone around her was wearing black,she couldn't help but feel pain all around er.She took the microphone near her lips and opened the paper.She wasn't able to speak it was like someting was blocking her trachea.She jotted all her courage and spoke,"Ladies and Gentlemen,Thank You for coming here.My Father and brother would have been happy to see you".Suddenly her eyes collided with a man sitting on the bench.His eyes were grey,dark grey to be precise.Something about them calmes Nina and she started speaking again,"He was a great man as all of you must know and a great father and a great husband too."A pain started in Nina's heart,her legs were wobbly she couldn't do this.The ache was threatning to put her down.Once again she remembered God and asked for his strength."I hope the pain goes away",Nina said at last and walked down from the stage.It ached,her heart,her hands,her legs,her mind.It hurted everywere.

Suddenly she saw her mother sitting near the tree.She walked to her mother and sat with her.She took her mother's head and put it down on her lap.Slowly she put her hands in mother's hair and soothed down her scalp.Her mother was alive but just physically,mentally she was far far away in her own world.Nina started saying a lullaby,

"It hurts,It pains,It goes away too.."

"You believe,you believe.."

"The fire will go away.."

"You need to see flowers,not the thorns.."

"It's all in the past,It still hurts..."

"Believe in him the pain will go away."

Nina didn't realise that  a woman were listening to her.When Nina noticed there presence she said Hello to them.The woman was wearing a black dress that clung to her waist.And a set of expensive pearls were in her neck.All about her was screaming "FILTHY RICH".The woman looked in her early 40's.

"Hello Nina",woman said and embraced her in a bear hug.Nina was surprised at first but then she thought it must be her father's friend.

"I am so sorry for your loss darling.I am sure you don't know me.I am your mother's friend", expressed the woman.

Then the woman took her mother in a tight embrace,"Sonia darling I am so sorry".

The woman was constantly speaking to the her mother,were her mother didn't reply at all.

Nina came in for her mother's rescue and said,"she won't talk she's in shock,she will be fine.Like everyone else.Thanks for coming why don't you have some refreshments".

The woman looked shocked for a second the her expression changed to sympathy."I know it's hard darling,but you'll get over it",the woman said.

"It's not hard,people die everyday.It's just that today my father's and brother luck was no good.So they died.It's not hard at all."said Nina in a hard voice.

Unknown to Nina,The dark grey eyed man was watching her.

Brad's POV...............................

The news came as a shock to him.Mr Robert Van Der Woodsen and his son had died in a car crash.He knew the buisnessman,he himself was a buisnessman and was the richest one.He didn't know a lot about Mr.Van Der Woodsen but knew his name.As an obligation he went to funeral.But he was shocked when he saw a young woman in a black dress going up the stage.Her eyes had tears in them.It looked she was trying hard to not let them fall.

It was then he realised it was Nina Van Der Woodsen.The elder daughter of Robert.He was a ruthless buisnessman.Pity was a sign of weakness.But when that young woman started her speech he only ahd pity for the young woman.She wasn't able to speak,it was then his eyes collided with her dark coffee brown eyes.They were the most mesmerizing eyes he had ever seen.

For a second he had symapthy for that girl.But after a second his eyes turned  cold,emotionless,the real man he was.

He was just getting out of the funeral before media came and made a big fuss about nothing when he saw Nina soothing her mother's hair and singing to her.She sang beautifully with her husky voice.He listened to the whole conversation that went on between Nina and Mrs Blakely.it looked like Nina didn't knew the woman.

What shocked him was when Nina said the last words"It's not hard,people die everyday.It's just that today my father's and brother luck was no good.So they died.It's not hard at all."

She looked so young but she was the one taking care of her mother when it should have been opposite.The words shocked him,how can a girl like her be so strong?.

The thought rotated in his head.He remembered how he cried in his mother's lap for hours when her father died.A part of that crying maybe made Brad so strong.so strong that now he was a ruthless buisnessman,richest man on the world only when he was 27.
