"I can't believe you, I thought you were different!" I said screaming at my mother.
"What do you mean different?" My mother asked. "I'm your mother."
"You might be my mother, but you will never be my mom." I told her letting the tears roll down my face. I knew she was shocked when I said that. "I'm sorry, but I can't live her anymore, I am calling my dad."
"Maci, you aren't calling your dad." My mom said. "He can't do anything."
"He can do something, he is my dad, who has been a better parent then you have been in two months!" I was even shocked when I said that. "Please get out, now!" Without another word she walked out , just like she did when I was a kid. I knew my mom didn't care, just because I moved in with her for two months out of my sixteen years of living, she thinks she deserves the "best-mom award".

It was really late that night, when I called my dad. He lived two hours away from my mom in Dexter and I didn't want to get him upset, but I knew he just wanted me happy. "Hey dad" I told him.
"What's up Maci, it's pretty late isn't it?" My dad said sounding like he just woke up.
"I'm sorry, but I cant live here anymore. I need you to come get me dad. I'm scared." I cried so much today, the tears started burning my eyes."Is it your mom?" My dad said. "I told you that she would do this."
"I know dad, I'm sorry, I really am." I told him, trying to stay calm.
"How about this, since it's late, I will wake up super early in the morning and come get you. Okay?" Said my dad.
"Sure dad, Thanks. I will talk to you tomorrow." I told him feeling better.
"Alright sweetheart, sleep good. I love you" He said.
"Night, I love you too." After we hung up, I started packing, I was feeling so much better. I was ready to see my dad, just wasn't sure if I was ready for the changes. Would my life change too? I was feeling really guilty for the way I treated my mom, but I don't know why I felt guilty she was the one who treated me poorly every single day that I have been with her.

The next day, my dad came and got me just like he promised. He told me since he is town, we would sleep at a hotel tonight and visit his side of the family before we went home. I was so excited because my mother never let me visit my dads family only if I was going to church. When we pulled up to the driveway, there were so many cars there and I smelt barbecue coming from the backyard. When we went inside my grandmas eyes lit up.
"Oh my goodness, Maci! Look at you!" She was so happy. "You've grown up, and look at your beautiful hair!"
"Thanks grandma" I told her. "Its been so long since I have seen you."
"I know honey, i'm so glad that you have made your decision to move in with your dad." She told me.
"Me to. I know that this will be the right thing for me to do." I told her feeling relieved.
"It is honey, why don't you go and clean your hands, supper is almost done" She told me.
"Yes mam." I told her as I started walking away. I always loved my dads side of the family. I have always had a great bond with them, just never my moms side. After we ate supper and said our goodbyes, dad and I headed back to the hotel. I was so excited to go back to my dads tomorrow I was so close to screaming. I couldn't wait to get away from my mother. I loved her to death, but she has never been there for me and a daughter always needs her mother.

The next morning, dad and I left early to beat traffic. "Dad?" I asked him when we got in his truck.
"What's up bud?" He asked me.
"Never-mind" I told him. I didn't want him to know that I was scared of leaving everything. I was scared but at the same time I was happy. The rest of the ride my dad and I didn't talk much, considering that he was on the phone with my step-mom and I had my earphones in.
