When Dan forgets about a dinner date with Phil for their 1 year anniversary, will he be able to make it up to him in time? Sad stuff but a happy ending with fluff :)

Disclaimer: I do not own Dan and Phil,  and this is all fiction as none of this is real

Phil's POV

It had been one year. One whole year of happiness with my wonderful boyfriend Dan Howell. In celebration I had arranged for the two of us to have a romantic meal a a fancy restaurant in town. However, things didn't exactly go to plan.

I stared into the mirror, straightening out my shirt for what was probably the hundredth time. I was wearing a simple plaid shirt and skinny jeans, but made sure they looked smart as I would be eating in a posh retaurant tonight. I was buzzing with excitement as I made my way out of the apartment and hopped into a taxi that would take me to my destination. As I stepped inside I was immediately greeted by a cheery looking waitress with a name tag saying that her name was Suzie.

"I have a reservation in the name of Lester?" She checked her books and smiled broadly at me.

"Right this way sir." I could see that she was checking me out from the corner of my eye and could help but chuckle to myself. Besides being gay I already had the person of my dreams. After showing me to my seat I explained that I wanted to wait for my friend to arrive before I ordered. she seemed to lighten up when I said friend. I would have to make sure that she understood that I was taken before she tried to 'make a move'.

10 minutes later and he still hadn't arrived. No matter, his taxi is probably just stuck in traffic. There was nothing to worry about. He'll be here soon.

20 minutes. Calm down Phil he'll be here. He wouldn't miss this, today meant as much to him as Malteasers did. Despite this I was still anxious. Why hadn't he sent me a text? I sent him a couple but got no reply. Where was he?

"Sir? Would you like to order?" The waitress enquired.

"Can I just have a glass of water please?"

"Of course sir." She returned moments later with a large glass of water which I was left to sip anxiously. As much as I had faith in Dan, I was worried about whether he would be here soon or not.

1 hour. This was getting rediculous now, where the hell is he?? I had tried to call him numberous times, but every single one wen to voicemail. Didn't he have his phone on him? What was he doing that was making him miss this? He knew how much this meal would mean to me.

"Sir is everything alright?" THe waitress was back again and giving me a sympatheric look. To be honest she was annoying me, as she had barely left me alone all evening. And that look of sympathy just made me feel worse.

"Yes, my partner is just running a bit late." She sighed heavily, finally getting the idea that Ii wasn't into her and I was taken. I bit my lip to try and prevent tears from builing up in my eyes. He WAS going to be here. Any minute now he would walk through that door and charm the whole room with his perfect smile. His hair would be straightened to avoid all possiilities f getting hobbit hair; despite the amount of times that I had told him I liked it. But no. He never showed. Every time the door opened I expected to see my chocolate eyed lover, but was disappointed when a loving couple or family bustled in.

2 hours. 2 bloody hours and he hadn't even made an effort to contact me. No 'sorry I'm going to be late' or anything. I paid for the small amount of food that I had ended up ordering but barely touching, and left. The journey home in the taxi was silent. The driver must have sensed that I wasn't in the mood to talk as I looked terrible. My throat was dry and my lip was nearly bleeding from the amount of times that I had attempted to stop myself crying this evening. My tears were seconds away from falling as I made my way across the road after the driver dropped me off. As I walked up towards the door I started to worry. What if something had happened to him and that was why he hadn't turned up. But surely they would have contacted me. I opened the door and called out to Dan in the vain hope that he was here.
