I'm probably the only one person who literally eats cereal at 3 AM. Sounds weird but I'm not kidding. Right now when everyone is travelling on their dream, I'm sitting by myself in my apartment's kitchen, having a bowl of chocolate cereal and milk.
You might think I'm kind of weirdo (which is quiet true) but you have to know this all started when I couldn't sleep in one past night, so I decided to grab some food to chill—without expecting soon my stomach will make this as its new 'habit'. How could someone sleep when their stomach keep rumbling? Sounds impossible for me.
Unless if I was a hermit—because only a professional hermit who can ignores the strong hunger during sleep time. Unfortunately, I'm a youtuber. My name is Jordan Dowodzenka, if you're wondering. If not... no, no, you must be wondering because you are reading a story of mine right now.
I just know one other guy who ever did the same thing as I do: Patrick Star. Yup, in one episode of Spongebob Squarepants, he woke up at 3 AM for a krabby patty. Now some of you might say, it's a cartoon, Jordan. Well, I know. I'm 20 years old and still watching a happy yellow sponge who runs over in a jellyfish field but hey what's wrong with that? At least what I'm doing right now is proving that some cartoon ideas might based on reality.
Speaks about reality, for honest I don't like reality at all. As you still don't know yet, my life went pretty flat, so far. I was born in Virginia, then I went to Michigan State University, and currently I settle down by myself in the biggest city of California, Los Angeles. Besides eat and sleep, I make YouTube videos and Vines for living—and that's all. Not to mention I don't like being what I am today, but I won't deny that I hate living alone.
Thoughts of living alone just got me excited in the beginning. Because what usually come first on most kids' thoughts whenever they heard about 'Hey-I-move-to-my-own' must be: "Oh man it's cool! You have no parents around! Let's make a super crazy party all night long and get drunk and girls and pizza and music and and and—!!!!"
...but in fact, I'm not a rich-ass-kid who can make party in every Friday night and won't get any commercial crisis on the next day... or month.
I've been separated from my mom since I got in college. And now, once again, mom and I still have this sick long distance relationship. Okay she used to stay with me for a while until six month ago she decided to move to Australia because of her obsession with a skinny youtuber dude named Troye Sivan.
Before that time, I never know if my mom was a fangirl. I found it a little bit awkward since she obsessed with Troye so much and me... Well, Troye and I are YouTubers, though, so...
Seems I will never get it clearly. And now I'm not sure which one is better having a mama fangirl or nah. Last week I sign-in to twitter, I saw one of my mom's tweet which was her selfie with TROYE.
I repeat.
MY MOM GETS HER SELFIE WITH TROYE SIVAN.
She seriously made it! I literally cry in happiness and called her for hours just for saying endless 'congrats mom', 'I love you so much', 'I'm so proud', blablabla. See, I'm such a supportive son, in the end.
The conclusion is, we're still separated in the opposite of earth and lived on our own. I didn't have father since my parents divorced when I was young. I used to have a golden fish named Matty—but poor for my baby he died when I was leaving to New York for a project with Fullscreen. It's my fault too, I guess... I guess I haven't feed him before I left. I was too excited with the Fullscreen project and forgot everything.
I finished my cereal when my phone buzzed. I checked it and saw the id caller name was: "Mom". Before thinking twice, I answered her. Her full with excitement voice greeted me. "Hello Jordan sweety! How are yah?"
"Since when you speak like Troye, mom?" I asked. Of course I watch Troye's channel, so I know about his strong Australian accent. And my mom also speaks like him, a bit.
"It's not the answer, Jordan." she said.
"Alright, I was just wondering. I'm fine Mom. How are you there? I miss you so much!"
"Aw I always miss you so much, darling," she said. "Don't you have any plan to visit me on Christmas? We can have a summer Christmas together and I promise you, it'll be the most unforgettable Christmas for us."
For a second I almost correct her that Christmas is always cold and frozen, but then I remembered that she stays in Australia, which summer starts on December.
"I'm still looking for a flight. I'm... pretty busy right now..." I tried my best to not imagine her face starts to frown.
"Jordan—" she starts but I cut her off.
"I know mom, I know. But this is what I've been dreaming in my entire life. I just can't miss this chance..."
"May I at least know what your project is?"
I simper. "I will tell you when it's done, mom. I promise, okay? I'm going to sur—wait, who's that mom?" I turn my head around, pretty sure I just heard another sounds few moment ago. The sound was like a...someone's sob? But I see no one.
"Who was who?"
"Eh? So it's not from you?" I thought that sound come from the call.
"Ooh I get it," Mom scoffed, which got me more confuse. "Why don't you tell me earlier, Jordan? Who is the lucky boy?"
"Lucky boy?" I thought for a second. Then my eyes got widened "Eh mooom, no! I don't—"
"I know you are." I could feel she was smirking.
"Mom, I'm still single."
"Don't forget to bring your boyfriend into our summer Christmas party, okay? See ya later baby."
"I also can't promise if I will go to Aus—" tut..tut..tut. "—Mom?"
She's already hung up. []
