I flutter my eyes open and take in my surroundings as my mothers heavenly morning voice wakes me up properly.

"Good morning Darling." She greets me.

"Morning mum, where's Jack?" I ask groggily as I get up slowly.

"Downstairs having breakfast. There are pancakes on the bench. I'm leaving for work now and you need to get up for school. I love you, have a great day at school." She kisses me on the cheek and walks out.

My name is Jessie Romanoff. I am 16. I was born Friday the thirteenth of December 1996. (A/N Check it up it actually was a Friday the 13th).

He has slightly spiky dirty blonde hair with blue eyes. He has light freckles across his nose and over  the top of his cheeks. He is tough, strong willed, slightly over-protective of me, short tempered and stubborn but we love him.

Our mother, Natasha Romanoff, is a bit taller than me but the same hieght as Jack, with deep red curvy hair and green eyes. She can be strict but loving. She has the same birthmark as I do.

I get up and get out my blue and white striped top and bright red skinny jeans and go for a shower. When after hopping out, I get dressed and stop in front of the bathroom mirror. I just stare at myself. I stare at my dirty blonde hair that seems to look more and more golden the longer you look. I stare at the strange handgun-like shape of my black birthmark on the inside of my left bicep, that is what shows that I'm my mother's daughter. I glare at my hazel coloured eyes and put in some bright blue contact lenses. No one else in my family has hazel eyes, I don't understand where they came from.

I go down stairs and see Jack, my younger brother, in dark blue denim jeans and a white mosimo t-shirt that's clearly too small for him. Sure he's muscular and tall but damn, Simon Cowell wears looser fitting tops. Jack and I go to the same school so I have to walk with him. We live in Australia, in probably the worst crime effected town ever. It was the only place mum and dad could get away from the people who were after us. But that's a different story.

The thing is there are two sides of town; the rich/posh side and the 'other' side. We live on the 'other' side and we go to the 'other' highschool which is literally right next to the rich/posh high school. The rich/posh side get driven to school in limos and our side of town walks, rides on the bus or rides a bike to school. It's amazing how huge an economy gap can be.

We both finish breakfast in silence, clean up and grab our bags. I walk out with Jack locking the door behind us and we walk to school, still in a silence. It's not like we had a big fight or anything, we just don't need to talk. Besides, we don't really have much in common.

We don't get too far before a shout is heard behind us.

"Hey, LOSERS!" A voice shouts out from a passing limo.

"And.... duck." I say, without having to turn around. We duck, a slushy cup, still full, flies over us as we continue walking. We are bullied by the rich/posh side of town and people from our school. We're used to it, but did they have to waste a perfectly good slushy?!

The rest of the day was uneventful. I didn't run into any more 'richie-riches' but I didn't really excel in anything either.

I flop down on my bed exhausted from the day of school work and teen drama. Tomorrow is another day.

THUMP!!!

What the hell was that? I wait a minute and don't hear anything again. It was probably just a neighbour's cat.

THUMP!!!

The lights go out and I jolt upright. I slowly open my door to check the wall way. I walk down the stairs all stealthy-like. When I get to the bottom I look around to find mum and Jack on the ground unconscious and tied up. Holy bleeps, Batman!

I carefully sneak around the house and hide in the shadows as two men walk past me looking for some thing. I sneak into the living room, sticking to the shadows and see a man with an eye patch wearing a black suit. Why is he wearing a suit? I sink further into the shadows until I bump into the wall.
