Merry Christmas

I quietly snuck out of bed and changed clothes. Today was the day. The day that I would pick up the perfect present for my darling Alexander. I know that it's four in the morning, and I know that today was probably the worst possible day to pick up the present, but I'm hoping that Alec will forgive me for leaving suddenly.

I don't know why I didn't just make a portal to pick up his present; I guess I just wanted the full experience. After I quietly, and reluctantly, snuck out of my apartment, leaving Alec still curled up in bed, looking as adorable as always, I hailed a cab.

The cab ride took three hours. That's right three whole hours. Apparently traffic is really bad at four in the morning. But then again that makes sense. Except it doesn't make sense for today! People shouldn't have work today! When the cab finally pulled up to a small building, I paid and got out. I went inside to find a line. I wanted to scream. Why, why, why, was there a line today!? Alec is going to kill me. I glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already seven which meant that Alec is most likely going to be awake. Six people left in line. I just hope he isn't mad at me when I get home or this would ruin everything. Five. Four. Three. It has already been an hour. Can people be any less slow? Knowing Alec, he would probably be pissed when I get back. In fact he was probably waiting by the door right now, tapping his foot. He was so cute when he was angry. "Sir?" Well he was always cute, but for some reason he was especially cute when he was angry. "Sir, if you aren't going to go next, then please step out of line."

Suddenly getting snapped out of my thoughts, I blinked in surprise, only to find an irritated clerk glaring at me. "Sorry?" I asked, stepping forward. "How can I help you?" She snapped. Snippy snippy. "Oh. I called in yesterday. I found one that I liked on your website and made sure that it was set aside." "Fine. Alright. Name?" She demanded. "Magnus Bane." She nodded once and disappeared into the back room. One. Three. Five. Nine. Ten. Ten minutes passed before she came back out. "Here you are." She said, thrusting a box to me. "Gentle!" I snapped, taking it protectively. I threw cash down in front of her, then turned and left. One more. One more stop then I can go back home. 8:15. Yep. Alec was going to kill me. I didn't want to check my phone.

The next stop was a fast one. Traffic was even worse than before, so I got there at 9:33, but I was in and out with a snap. Then I got a brilliant idea. And when I say brilliant, I mean outstanding, amazing, genius. With another half an hour, I ran into the dollar store and bought some ribbon. I was going to have to put my gift together in the cab on the way back. As I checked out, I glanced at my phone. 15 calls from Alec and 21 texts. That was better then I thought.

When I got back in the cab, I constructed my gift. Hopefully this would make up to him. Hopefully. I put my gift back in the box and set it on the seat. Everything would be okay. We would be back at my apartment in fifteen minutes and everything would be fine.

~~~
Everything is not fine. I repeat. Everything is NOT fine! As soon as I thought everything was right with the world, the cab got a flat tire! Why is the world against me today!? The cab driver climbed back into the front seat. "Okay. There is bad news and worse news. The bad news is that there isn't a spare in the trunk. The worse news is that the pick up truck will be here in two hours." I nearly cried. I couldn't wait another two hours to get back to Alec. What was I going to do!? The answer fell on me like a sack of bricks. I was a warlock. I could make a portal. I grabbed my gift and dove out of the cab. There was no way that I was paying for half of a ride when most of it was just sitting in traffic. I ran down the alley way and came to a brick wall. I muttered the spell under my breath, then stepped into the swirling blue.
When I stepped out, I was at the entrance of my apartment. The smell of pancakes lingered in the air and there was a place set for me at the table. I set my gift down and looked around for my Alexander. "Alexander? Where are you darling?" I called out. The door to the bedroom flew open and out marched an angry, rumpled, red eyed Alexander. "MAGNUS BANE WHERE IN THE WORLD DID YOU GO!?!?" "I'm sorry Alexander, I went out to get your present. Please don't be mad." "HOW CAN I NOT BE MAD!? I WOKE UP AT SEVEN TO FIND YOU GONE AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS NOW!? 10:30!! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS!?" "Of course I do Alexander. This is Magnus Bane you're talking about. I love this day." "Then why weren't you here? With me?" He whispered. I could tell that all of his anger was gone, but it was replaced with sadness. At least I knew that he wasn't gonna throw me out of my own house. I went over and pulled him against me in a tight hug, which he responded by resting his head on my shoulder and hugging me back tightly. I tucked some of his black hair behind his ear-he really needed a haircut- before I spoke again. "I know my darling. I felt awful that I couldn't be here with you when you woke up, but my present for you got shipped in today, so I wanted to get it as fast as I could. ASAP you know?" He sighed and nodded. "If you want, I can let you open your present now." "Will you get it for me?" He asked, releasing me from his grip. "Of course." I kissed his nose and went over to the box. I picked up my gift for him, examining it. "Alec, close your eyes." I looked over my shoulder and found that he had followed my orders. I smiled a little and went over to him. "Hold your hands out." Again he obliged. I gently placed my gift in his hands and heard him gasp. I didn't have to tell him to open his eyes since he had already done that. In his hands he had a small little black cat with a sparkly gold ribbon around its neck. That was my first and third stop. A pet shop and the dollar tree. My second stop was tied onto the ribbon. Alec hadn't seen it yet, he was to busy petting the little cat. "Oh he's precious!" "She," I corrected, "it's a she." He smiled at me happily as he scratched her under her chin.
I don't know exactly what happened, I assume that his finger brushed against my second gift because he knelt down, placing the cat on the floor and untied the ribbon. He gasped and held it up. In the middle of the ribbon was a silver ring that had 'Aku Cinta Kamu' engraved into it. Alec looked up at me wide eyed. "Aku Cinta Kamu, Alexander. Will you marry me?" He stared at me wide eyed, then he launched himself at me, throwing his arms around his neck. "Yes! Yes! Of course! You don't even have to ask me Magnus! I love you too!" He cried happily, tears starting to spill from his eyes. I gently wiped them away and kissed him lightly. "Merry Christmas Magnus." He whispered softly.
"Merry Christmas Alexander."
