She'd been bullied by him throughout her first years at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
But since the death of Cedric in The TriWizard Tournament and Voldemort's return, Draco felt more alone in a crowd of people than alone in his chambers in Hogwarts.

Hermionie had sparked with Draco but due to the torment she locked her feelings away. She hated almost everything about him. He was the most rude and up himself pure-blood she had ever met, but he oozed an effortless charm, his eyes glazed blue, an evil that held everyone's attention when he walked in. It was impossible for her not to admire him, but that didn't mean she had to like him.

Both of them knew that Voldemort's return meant Draco would be recruited by Death Eaters such as the likes of his mother Narcissa and his father Lucius.

Draco knew that getting close to Potter would be evidently doomed, he still disliked Ron and vise versa but Hermionie, no matter how much of a dick he had been to them, had stayed true and given him to many chances that he'd lost count.

It was weird at first but every day he fell in love with the idea of falling in love. It was unpredictable and crazy but he loved it. When he first arrived at Hogwarts he noticed her, not just that recognizable kid, it was different. Her eyes weren't just brown they had golden hazel flicks and when they met his it was like a hesitant urge to be closer. Draco's eyes weren't just light blue they had dark blue flecks in them. As he watched her cross the cobblestones of Hogwarts, he knew she was the one and he had to have her.

He would save her if it meant his own destruction. He had to try. Try to explain, tell her he never meant for this, tell her about his family, his secrets, and how he loved her.

... He had to try...
