Maddie's P.O.V.

Abby called Kendall, Shay, and Nick and I in to practice the group number.

"This dance is very mature. It's about two girls, Kendall and Shay, who have fallen in love with Nick. Nick on the other hand is still in love with his bestfriend, Maddie. Nick broke Maddie's heart before and so you, Maddie, have to decide if you'll give Nick another chance.

Kendall and Shay, I want you two to show jealously and anger. The boy you're in love with is in love with another girl and no matter how hard you try, he only wants Maddie. Nick, I want to see you in love and self-hatred. You are so mad at yourself for losing Maddie and you are gonna give it your all to get her back. Maddie, I need you to show hurt and love. You're having an inner battle on whether or not you should trust Nick with your heart again.”

Of course Abby had to pick a number that represents exactly what Nick and I are going through. She’s doing this on purpose. I just know it. The dance had a lot parts were Nick and I had to do lifts and he had to catch me after a leap. This dance involved a lot of trust and I wasn’t sure if I even trusted him period, let alone to trust him with not dropping me. If he drops me once and I get injured, that could end my dance career.

“Maddie! Get the leap higher!” Abby hadn’t stopped screaming at me the whole dance. I can’t really blame her. I kept messing up the parts I had with Nick. Why can’t I just focus? These are the parts I need to master. There is no area for mistakes. Absolutely none. “Maddie, trust him!”

“Mads, just relax. I won’t drop you. I’ve never dropped you and I won’t ever let get hurt again,” Nick whispered to me during one of our parts together. His voice still sends chills down my back. I hate how he still has that effect on me.

After we ran the dance a few times, Abby gave us a 10 minute break. I went outside to get some air and clear my head. I can’t let Nick freak me out. He isn’t worth us losing and Abby hating me even more than she already does. The sound of the door opening made me snap out of my thoughts.

“Maddie?” Nick said tentatively.

“Nick, I came out here to think. I just some time for myself,” I whispered.

“Maddie, I know you. Right now, you’re probably just over thinking things,” he put both his arms on the walls beside me so I was basically trapped. “Listen to me; you are so much better than you think you are. The only thing that’s stopping you from being as great as you usually are is me. I’m sorry for everything. I don’t know how many times I have to say that but I’m gonna keep saying it until you trust me again. You don’t have to like me. To be honest, I’m still not happy with myself after what I did. But you just have to trust me for this one dance. That’s all I need for you. I’m sick of hearing Abby scream at you. You’re so much better than that.”

“You haven’t been here for a while. You don’t know how bad I’ve gotten. Abby is right.”

“That’s absolute crap. Maddie, don’t let her break you down. She’s only jealous because she can’t do half of what you can.”

“Guys, Abby wants us back in,” Kendall suddenly appeared beside us. She had a smirk like she caught us doing something bad.

“Okay. Maddie, trust me. You can do it.” Nick finally moved from where he caged me in.

I smiled. That’s the Nick I was in love with. The one that could sense whenever anyone was sad. The one that would rather have others happier than himself. I want to trust him again but every time I try, I think about him that weekend. The weekend I saw him in bed with another girl. I just can’t let myself get hurt again.

Dance was over and it was time for me to meet Shay’s brother. I was a really nervous about meeting Shay's brother. I already have enough guy drama with Liam and now that Nick is back. He probably won't even like me. No one does.

"Maddie, this is my twin brother Liam." Shay introduced.

I looked up and couldn't believe my eyes, "Liam?"

"Maddie?" Liam said shocked.

"So, I'm guessing you guys know each other?" Shay added.

Neither of us bothered answering. We were just shocked. What were the chances of Shay and Liam being siblings? Let alone twins? This is kinda weird.

“I can’t believe your Shay’s brother,” I gasped.

“I can’t believe you guys dance together,” he said. “Clearly, we need to get to know each other even more.”

“I completely agree,” I smiled.

"I'm starting to feel kinda 3rd wheel at the moment," Shay awkwardly admitted.

"Shay!" Liam and I blushed.

"Okay, weirdos. Liam, can you take me home now? I'm exhausted. Abby works you really hard."

"Yeah, sure. Maddie do you need a ride?" Liam asked.

"No, I think my mom is already here. Thanks though."

"See you later," Liam said getting into his car. Before I knew it he was gone.
