You wake up to a boom of thunder and a flash of lightning lighting up your room. You look at your clock it reads 11:00pm; your parents are out late and won’t be back for another hour. You sit up in your bed and listen to the violent wind smack tree branches into your window. Soon you hear a scratching noise on the front door downstairs. You hesitate to get out of bed to go see what it is. You try the light switch, but the power is out. So you grab your flashlight and make your way down the hallway to the stairs. You peer down the stairs at the front door. Through the glass you see the small outline of a cat. You hurry down the stairs to let scooter your fluffy calico cat inside. Scooter goes flying through the open door leaving wet cat prints everywhere. You retrieve a towel from the laundry room and dry him off. You then pick him up and take him back upstairs to your room for company till your parents come home.

You sit in the middle of your bed for what seems like hours listening to the storm. Soon you hear a crash downstairs. The front door! You had forgotten to lock it. You race down the hall and down the steps to see the front door blown open by the wind. You quickly close the door back and lock it and bolt back to your room and close the door. A few moments later you hear what sounds like footsteps downstairs making their way from the living room into the dining room back to the living room then stopping at the stairs. Scooter’s fur begins to stand on end and he starts hissing at the door. You decide to hide under your blankets. The footsteps make their way up the stairs slowly and then turn down the hall opposite of your room; the footsteps go to your parent’s room instead.  You figure it’s just your parents returning home from their night out.

The footsteps then start towards your room. You are still quite frightened and hope that it’s your parents just coming to tell you they are home. They stop at your door, and the door slowly begins to open. Scooter hisses some more and then runs and hides under your bed. You realize that that is odd behavior for Scooter. You decide to take a chance and peek outside the covers. Standing in the doorway is your mother. You jump up to great her, but stop dead in your tracks. Something is not quite right. You run to get your flashlight and shine it on her. Looking back at you are two glowing red eyes and a sharped tooth ear to ear grin of the thing wearing your mother’s skin. You try to run away. But it’s too late. Before you can even scream the thing lunges for you sinking its teeth into your neck. You feel the warm blood run down your neck and onto your shirt. Soon darkness consumes you.

Your parents return home just moments after the attack, only to find your flashlight on the floor and you nowhere to be seen.
