Back To The Beginning Of The End

Ben woke up in the morning at 8:34am. The Nigerian sun was already shining brilliantly to the low land surrounding areas, beautiful birds hovering the earth as though GOD had just made a new beginning.

The whole sweet morning feeling Ben was having at that time was more of an imagination than reality. "Wow the world is a beautiful place, look how the birds fly, the sun shine, the___... " he paused briefly and snapped out of his 'wonder' as he remembered his nightmare and how terrified he felt at that time.

"I have to do something about it" he said to himself. But for a split second he sat on the bed again with his hand up on his jaw like a frustrated teenager who has noting in life to be proud about.

At that point in time he thought how he got into the mess in the first place.

BACK TO THE SCRATCH!

It was the second Saturday of February the previous year, as Ben was walking towards the bus stop close to a gas station when he heard someone call his name from a distance. Unsure of the voice, he turned around to see if he could recognize the face of the person who called his name.

He was surprised at who he saw for the first time in five years.

It was a girl named Aina, he could only remember her because of the way she smiles.

Aina had a smile that only her face could define. Just as Ben turned and saw the figure of a female standing at the entrance of the gas station, he walked closer to her with a smile on his face.

As he arrived at the spot where she was standing, he gave her a hand shake and she smiled in returned to acknowledge his presence.

Ben had a smile that could charm a girl even when he had no intension of flirting with her.

They both exchanged greetings "oh man! you have really grown, c'mon see how you look like a married woman" he said.

"Don't flatter me" she returned.

"But really you have grown and even more beautiful than I had imagined you a while ago" he said still smiling at her.

"Well you have grown into an handsome guy too" she said. "So how have you been?" Ben asked.

"I have been doing well" she replied.

"what about you" she asked. "Same here" Ben replied.

There was an awkward silence for almost 10 (ten) seconds and the both of them were just staring a each other until Aina broke the silence "so where are you headed?" She asked.

Ben still lost in his thoughts and did not understand what she had asked "ehn what did you say?" He snapped out of his thoughts.

Aina asked again "where are you headed?" "Err i am going to work" he replied.

"OK that's good, I didn't imagine you hustling even with your luxury lifestyle" she said mockingly.

"Hahaha well boys became men don't you think?" he added.

"men indeed, well I'm glad to see that you have taken it upon yourself to start the journey of life at a very young age though" she replied.

"Why Don't you give me your number so I can call you later" he asked.

"Ok" she replied in agreement and gave her phone number to Ben.

"Thanks" Ben said as he smiled in appreciation and waved at her as they both path ways.
