When the calm had ended and the storm began, Suga let her hand go and stood. Slowly, she followed. The air smelled like smoke, and fire, and something salty and metallic. Blood. Daichi was lying on the floor, with a bullet through his chest. His eyes open and unseeing, dead. Rapmon was lying across from him, his eyes fluttering, and a bullet through his chest. But alive, Rapmon was alive. The others emerged from their hiding place and stared at the sight in horror. She only hesitated a moment, then she ran to Rapmon's side. She didn't know what to do, so she just grabbed his hand and held it between hers.
"N-Nari?" He murmured.
"I'm here." She sobbed. She felt everyone approach them, circling them, protecting them.
"I-I have t-to t-tell you." He stammered. She shook her head,
"Shh. Please. Be quiet." He couldn't seem to hear her.
"I love you." He choked. She bit back a torrent of tears, and nodded.
"I love you too." It wasn't exactly a lie. He smiled and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Kiss him." Jin murmured, crouching down on the other side of Rapmon. She looked up at Suga, and Suga bent down as well, nodding. So she did. She gave Rapmon one last kiss.
She held his hand tightly and pulled away. Rapmon's smiled widened and he closed his eyes. He was dead. She tried not to cry, she tried to smile, for him. She knew he was dead. She knew he was dead as soon as she had stood. She looked at his face. He was so calm. He was quite handsome, and she did love him. He was a wonderful person, he was sweet, and strong, and amazing, and now he was dead. She let out a loud sob, and let his hand go. She stood, and backed away. She couldn't look at him anymore. Suga took her hand gently, and she fell into his arms. She sobbed loudly into his chest. She hated herself for lying to Rapmon. For lying to him right before he died. She didn't love him the way he wanted her to, but what else could she say? That was the only way he could've died happily, and that's all she asked for.
"I'm so sorry." Suga whispered into her ear.
"Why?" She hiccuped.
"Because Rapmon's dead. And I'm sorry I didn't tell him I forgave him before he died. I forgave him. I'm so stupid I didn't tell him. I'm so sorry." He whispered, his voice shaking. She gripped the fabric of his shirt and sobbed loudly.
"I love you." He mumbled into her hair. She nodded,
"I love you too." But she didn't love Rapmon. She hated herself for not loving him. Now he was gone. She should've talked to him. She should've done something. Anything. It was over, yes. She should be happy, but the agonizing pain of Rapmon's death mixed with it all. She was happy, but she was also deathly sad. She was relieved, but the air was too somber. Death filled the room, but she felt freedom. She didn't know what else to do, so she just cried. Tears of sadness or tears of joy. It didn't matter. They were tears just the same.
He held her for a long time. He watched as J-Hope bustled about the room. J-Hope was the only one thinking. They needed to get out of there, but he couldn't just let her go. J-Hope sprayed the surfaces with flammable chemicals and dumped some gasoline he found on the bodies.
"Let's go." J-Hope yelled at them, bringing them out of their trance. He peeled her off him, and gave her to J-Hope. J-Hope nodded and helped her out of the office.
"Set it on fire." He yelled. Suga nodded. Tadashi looked at him,
"I have to stay." Tadashi sighed.
"I know." He murmured.
"Let's go." Tadashi grumbled and they walked out of the office. The adjoining room was empty.
"I'll be the next head yknow." Tadashi looked at him.
"I'm sorry I can't stay." Suga hugged him.
"I know. Just hit me over the head and knock me out. Make it look legit." Tadashi laughed. Suga laughed along too, for the last time. Suga turned him around.
"This is for all the shit you put me through." Suga joked.
"You're the first true friend I've had in a long time Suga. I wish you could stay, and I wish I could go. I love you man." Tadashi laughed bitterly.
"Love you too." Suga murmured, raising his hand and hitting Tadashi over the head.
"Bye." He mumbled and returned to the office. By then, everyone had left but Jin.
"So it's finally over." Jin sighed. He nodded,
"Finally." He hesitated by Rapmon.
"I forgive you." He whispered under his breath, more for himself than for Rapmon. Jin opened the back door for Suga.
"Let's start our lives." Jin murmured. Suga struck a match, and threw it on the curtains. The fabric was enveloped in flames. He handed the matches to Jin and he struck another. He threw it on the carpet, soaked with chemicals. The smell of smoke burned their noses, and they watched the monstrous fire burn for a moment.
"Let's go." Jin grabbed his arm.
"Yeah." He agreed, shutting the door behind them.
Finally, they could begin their lives.
