Julian Edelman looked at the ground below him. It was so far away, but it seemed like it was calling his name. The concrete was so inviting to him. It offered him an escape from reality. All of the pressure, emotions and pain would be gone. All he had to do was jump.
Julian thought about his family. They would all take care of each other and they would be fine without him. Julian was the middle child, so he wasn't needed. At least, that's what he thought. His family would be better off without him. He was a disappointment, and his father made that clear from the day that Julian came out to his family. Julian's success in the NFL and in other aspects of his life couldn't override the immense disappointment that his father saw when he looked at his son.
Julian's mother might miss him but, he didn't really know. He had always been close with her, but she could've been acting. Julian's self confidence was so low that he didn't even believe that his own mother could love him. He couldn't see that he's his mothers world.
Kaylee, Julian's younger sister, probably wouldn't be affected much. She'd be sad for a week or two, but then she'd move on. They were never really that close. Julian used to be viewed as the protective big brother, but when he came out, Kaylee couldn't take Julian's protectiveness seriously. Julian thought that in her eyes, she saw him as a wimp because he likes men. That wasn't true at all.
Jason, Julian's older brother, probably wouldn't care too much. Jason and Julian were close when they were younger, but as soon as Julian hit the age of ten, Jason started being mean to Julian. It wasn't the typical sibling rivalry, it was flat out bullying. He was civil to Julian now, but he would always say something snarky to Julian if he had the chance.
Julian's mind drifted to the team. The Patriots. This was the only place that he's ever felt comfortable. He felt at home with his team. His teammates were his friends, the only ones that he ever had in his life. Julian thought of his team as his family. They would miss him, at least, he thought they would. But Julian knew that they'd be okay. They'd find a new wide receiver. They'd find some other short guy to befriend.
Julian thought he was replaceable. He knew he was replaceable. There were hundreds of college kids that would be eagerly waiting to take his place.
A few tears rolled down Julian's cheeks. "You're so fucking weak," He said to himself, angrily wiping his eyes, "You deserve to feel this way. You're so fucking weak."
Julian had come to terms with the fact that he had lost the ongoing battle with depression months ago. The only reason that he hadn't offed himself yet was because he always found a reason to stick around for a little while longer, even if it was something as small as, 'If I die today, I won't know how this season of Empire ends.' Julian was out of reasons.
Julian took a deep breath.
The hotel room's door opened.
Julian climbed onto the balcony's railing, tears falling down his cheeks.
Tom Brady entered the hotel room, instantly spotting his best friend and running towards him.
Julian jumped.
