We walked down the hall quickly and quietly, heads down and avoiding any kind of contact. Everything here is old, worn, cracked, or peeling. Filthy. The only lights in the halls are from the candles or coming in the large glass windows that spanned the length of the hallway. Emilia and I held tightly to each others' arms.
She was brave, strong, and always so prepared when I needed advice or help. I'm sure the only reason I am alive today is because of Emilia and my luck of her finding me in time. Our story began three months ago...
This is a dark place. A place that could be the sister of hell. What dwelled here was evil. Evil that fed on the few innocents that remained. Now there are demons and devils that walk these halls. I am speaking of the undead. They quite literally feed on us. I am sure there are 15 actual students left alive. We see them every now and again. Hiding in a shadow or behind a statue. Other times we find that someone didn't make it through the night and their blood and limbs are all that remains.
The creatures that board here aren't something you can deal with or talk to. They are brutal, violent, and hungry. They're as close to zombies as the movies show them. But they vary in size and ugliness. Some are as tall as a two story building, wide as a car, and look like stone. Those creatures we call Movers. Never will you find one alone. You might think that just because they're huge that they'd be slow, but it is a lesson that you learn quickly and once. They patrol the large hallways in lines across the whole hall, if you value your life, you turn around and look for the nearest exit hallway or window. It's with this that the story I want to tell begins.
We crouched and peaked around the door into one of the three main halls.
"I think we can make it." Emilia said in a whisper. I was shaking already. We lingered a few seconds at the door frame, her hand gripping my wrist. I heard her take a quick breath and her fingers tightened on me.
"Go."
A little background knowledge.
Ever since our world was invaded by the dead, we haven't heard from anymore on the outside. I'm sure you are wondering why some kids are trying to survive in an abandoned school in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Well, there wasn't anything else to do. Nobody came to find us, no one sent word for us. Nothing. No one. We figure we are the only ones still alive that haven't gone over to the dark side. Yeah, that's not an original name for them, but it is one of the ways we keep sane. Back to the story.
We moved as quickly and as quietly as humanly possible. It was mid morning, the sun's light was bright through the window. The hall was empty, which might sound good, but in reality there is nothing good about silence in a world of death. I heard Emilia gasp before I saw them. Movers. They were nearly silent except for the it raspy breathing. My heart sank to the floor and my mind wen blank. Emilia pulled me quickly into a sprint. They were gaining on us. I had tears running down my face. I would have missed it, but she pulled me into the hole that we had marked with our symbol. Just as the seal was secured, the shrieks of the Movers were on the other side of the wall. There wasn't a way for them to fit in here. It's only a temporary hideout. There's no way out except for the way we had come in. With the shrieking of the Movers, there's bound to be more undead on their way.

You may wonder why we are out in the school halls with all of these things. Well, in a way we are the ear of this place. There are approximately fifteen people in the school that are alive. We are the delivery service of both items and information. We keep everyone as updated as we can. Usually we move at night, but when the recipient is hiding in a section of the school that is difficult to get to due to either distance or because of the sheer number of creatures that are known to be in the area we have to take more time in getting there. Whenever you want to receive or send anything, our payment usually comes as a place to sleep or food if they have enough.
