The Fallen

Chapter two

One moon earlier:

Eliza paced nervously around her mate as she waited for the other Alpha's. Azreal shot an amused glance at Eliza before returning his stare towards the cliff top. "Calm down Lize, our plan will come through." He murmured soothingly. Eliza pressed herself against her mates flank, looking for comfort.

"I know Az, but what if they turn it down and go straight to violence instead?" She asked, her anxious eyes probed her mates calm ones. She thought she saw a hint of uncertainty flash through his eyes but it was gone before she could be sure.

Azreal stood up and stretched his cramped muscles. "Besides," he added,"They have to actually come first." He pointed out. Eliza sighed. He was right. They had been waiting for hours for the Alphas to come but they never did. Leaves crackled at the top of the cliff and a small white head popped out over the edge.

"Hi Eliza, hi Azreal." She said, climbing down the cliff. She had a small lithe body. Her fur was white and sleek but in the moonlight it looked silver. Eliza greeted her back with a touch of her nose.

"Hay Kali, wheres Tobin?" She asked. Kali shook her head. She opened her mouth to say something but it wasnt her voice that came out. Instead a voice from behind her answered loud and clear.

"Hes sick I'm afraid." Answered a slightly bigger light brown she wolf. Eliza nodded sympathetically.

"Hello Larksong." She barked. The Forest pack beta bowed her head. A second wolf whom Eliza had also not seen bowed her head too. "Oh, hello Haven. I thought you had to take care of the pups." Eliza said, slightly surprised. Haven was her, the Moon packs, beta.

Haven shuddered. "I managed to convince Poppy to look after them although now i have to do two of her patrols." Haven said dejectedly. Azreal laughed.

"Poor Haven. You didnt have to come you know." He laughed.

Haven nodded. "I know but i wouldnt miss it for anything." She answered. More greetings came from the top of the cliff as the rest of the Alphas piled in. Cheshire, a lithe silver wolf, walked up to Eliza and pressed her muzzle against hers.

"Hullo Lize." She barked happily. Her violet eyes studying Eliza's own blue ones.

"Hello Chessie." She greeted back. Azreal cleared his throat and stared pointedly at the other Alphas. Eliza nodded. She walked to the front of the crowd and faced the other Alphas. "Alphas of Forest, Moor, and Star." She greeted. "I welcome you here tonight although i must say it isnt on pleasnant terms." The wolves around her shifted nervously. "As you know, a scout patrol went put yesterday to find out Shadow pack plans... they didnt come back." Concerned murmurs swept through the crowd. Eliza nodddd at Azreal to speak. He nodded and recounted his story for everyone to hear.

Cheshire growled, her violet eyes now a shade of silver. "Are we gunna let them get away with this?" She asked. Eliza opened her mouth to answer but was interrupted by a black and silver she wolf.

"No Cheshire we will not let them get away with this. We must make a battle plan immediately!" She answered. Eliza stood there, stunned. Okay so the Star pack Alpha was all of the packs Alpha but she was The Fallens Alpha. Not Anika. Eliza cleared her throat. The other wolves were already shifting nervously, knowing full well who the Rebels Alpha was.

Anika glanced at Eliza. "Yes Eliza?" She asked. "Did you want to say something?" Eliza growled.

"Anika thank you for trying to take over my position but as the Alpha of the Rebels I will speak." She growled. Anika looked shocked that Eliza said that.

"But im the Star pack Alpha so I am the leader!" She sputtered. She hated having to give up her position as Alpha once again.

"And I am the Alpha working to take over the Shadow pack and get you back into power." Eliza sighed. "Now please shut up and let me speak." Anika stepped back, she would stand down for now but this wasn't over.

"Azreal and I have made a plan that would completely disarm the Shadow pack." Eliza began. She was nervous that they would think she was crazy.

"Are we gunna attack them?" Cheshire asked curiously. She knew how Eliza felt about violence so she wondered where this was going.

"No we are not gunna fight them Chessie. I am tryong to avoid violence but if they start it I will not avoid it any longer." Eliza explained. "We are going to kidnap the one thing most precious to them... we shall kidnap baby Anook."

Chaos erupted through the wolves. Cheshire shouted above the others. "Everyone shut up and hear her out!" She growled and glared at the wolves. She turned back to Eliza. "Well luv? How do you plan this?" She asked.

Eliza was grateful the Star pack beta was here. "I will lead the patrol with Haven and three more willing wolves." She explained.

"Ill go!" Chessie volunteered. Eliza nodded her thanks.

"We just need two more wolves and then I will tell them the plan." She said. She didnt want to explain everything to wolves who weren't even going. She couldn't risk a leak to the Shadow pack.

Kali and Luka volunteered to go too and so Eliza took the group to an isolated cave. She relayed the plan to them and they set on their way.

"Run! Just go and dont look back! Get him to the Moon!" Eliza shouted at Haven and Kali. Her, Chessie, and Luka were fighting off a patrol of Shadows who were trying to get to the pup.

"Give him back!" Howled a large black wolf. His dark amber eyes smoldered. "How dare you?!" He screamed.

Eliza landed one last blow on the sliver wolf in front of her then turned tail and ran. Haven and Kali had already dissapeared into the trees and Luka and Cheshire were following her. She ran breathlessly through the trees, finally catching up to Kali and Haven. They all stopped when they felt it was safe. Kali set the pup down gently. He was small, only two moons old, and was black and silver. His eyes were a beautiful mixture of amber and green.

"Hello little Anook." Eliza murmured gently. She nuzzled the puppy.

"Im hungry mommy." The puppy whined. Eliza practically melted. He was so cute.

"Okay baby we'll find you something to eat.... and im not your mommy. My name is Eliza." She said.

"Wheres my mommy then? Doesnt she love me anymore?" He asked quietly. Elizas heart broke. This pup thought his mom didnt love him!

"Your mum loves you very much Anook. Always remember that." Chessie said sternly. Eliza was grateful. Even though the Shadow was bad she didnt want this pup to believe his mother hated him.

"Then where is she?" He asked.

" You had to leave Anook. We are your family now." Eliza said, giving him a comforting lick. Anook nodded.

"Okay E-Eliza." Anook stumbled over the unfamiliar name.

Eliza nodded. "Lets take you home."
