It was a gloomy night. The clouds were covering the moon. The houses lay in neat rows, under thick blankets of snow. Thalia walked carefully to avoid the icy patches on the road. The flickering street lamp was the only source of light.

"ArooArArAroo," A wolf howled in the distance.

As Thalia neared her home she thought about the events that had happened earlier that day.

She walked swiftly. When she arrived at the french doors she stopped. She pulled her key out from it's place in her pocket.  She unlocked it and went inside. It smelled of lemon cleaner and bleach.

"Pepper come," Thalia demanded. A black lab the size of a 28" television ran downstairs.

Thalia pet him and opened the basement door. Pepper led her downstairs. She sat on the small couch, barely big enough for herself.

She let herself close her eyes for a moment.
