The Fortune-Teller

I've always wanted to see the world. I've dreamt of travelling every continent, to see the beauty that this world has to offer. So I'm living that dream. I'm going to see the world, one place at a time.

I am Haru Villacorte. I'm 23. And I travel a lot. I've been to London, UK, Canada, USA, Africa, Australia, and some countries in Asia. Mostly, I travel alone. People ask me why. I just tell them that I haven't found that special person that I'll travel with.

Aside from travelling, I love shoes. It's always been my passion to buy different kinds of shoes. For me, the shoes you wear represent who you are.

-----

As I was walking the streets of Seoul, I overheard two tourists talking.

"Why don't you try the fortune-teller that I went to yesterday? What she said about me is pretty accurate." said the blonde foreigner.

"But I don't believe in those things." said the brunette foreigner.

“Just for fun then. You've nothing to lose. Besides, we're here on a vacation so let's enjoy this."

      "Fine then."

I got curious about the fortune-teller so I followed them inconspicuously. They went inside a tent.

I realized that there are a lot of signs for fortune-telling. I walked around and went inside a cafe. I sat and looked at the menu. Oh! There are two menus. One for the drinks and one for fortune-teller services. I ordered for a strawberry daiquiri.

A while later, a middle-aged Korean woman approached me.

"Do you want to know about your future?" she asked. Good thing she knows how to speak in English.

      "Yes please." I answered politely.

She asked for my hand so I gave it to her. She looked at it intently, traced some of the lines and said, "You are smart person and very independent. You do what you want even if some people disagree. You don't care what other people think as long as you are happy."

I just looked at her. That's very accurate.

"But you are not entirely happy. You are searching for him. You don't have to look for him because he will find you. He will find you when you least expect it. And you will know at that exact moment that it is him."

I'm speechless. I really hope that what she foresees will come true.

"You will have a happy long life with him." Then she held my hand with both of her hands and looked me in the eye. "You have very light aura and you are lucky person."  Then she smiled at me.

"Thank you." Then I smiled at her. It was all I can say. I am overwhelmed. I reached for my bag to get money to pay for the Korean woman but when I looked up, she was gone. I looked around but I can't find her.

-------

*I intentionally did not make the Korean woman's grammar perfect. Let's day that the middle aged Korean woman knows how to speak English but not fluently and she has a thick accent. =)
