“No! Stop it! Please, I’m begging you!”
“Take that! Right in the balls, how’s that feeling?”
“Aghhhh! Stop it, jackass!”
“DIEEEEE!”
I rolled my eyes. I was in my room, with my door locked so they wouldn’t get in. They still hadn’t figured out that I was hiding behind the tank to their left. I smirked while pushing the button combination to throw a grenade towards them.
“Fuck! That’s Alex! Dude, stop tryin’ to kill me and focus on your sister, or else we’re both going down!” I could hear the desperation in the guy’s voice.
I chuckled, seeing their soldiers moving towards the apartment in ruins, opposite of where I was crouched. I took the opportunity and moved towards the small fortress where they were “hiding”. After that, I took out my sniper and prepared to shoot. First, of course, would be Cameron for turning against his own teammate.
“FUCK NO!”
I smiled, and moved. It was obvious that Riley would go back, so I decided to leave, and hide near the small palm tree and bushes.
“Dude, kill her! Avenge my dead soldier, man.” I heard my brother plead.
“Yeah, man, after you tried to kill me? Hell, no.” I chuckled at that, and prepared for my next move.
I saw the soldier walking backwards towards me, so I decided to change weapons. I took out my pocket knife, preparing my fingers for the button combination, and got close. When he was right in front of me, I quickly pressed and moved my game controller.
“What the – How the hell did – Alexis!” Riley’s voice was laced with disappointment and playful anger. I knew they weren’t really angry, but the fact was they were obsessed on making me lose since they didn’t want to admit that a girl could beat them in Call of Duty. Boys.
I unlocked my room, and entered my brother’s. They were both there, watching the game screen showing the kills and points awarded.
“And that, boys, is how you win a game,” I said, winking at Riley. He grinned, but my brother just scowled.
“Rematch. I still think you were cheating. Why else would you lock yourself up in your room?” Cameron asked. His face was frowning, and his red curls were messy on his head. We were both redheads, although my hair color was more of a maroon, while his was brighter, more like an orangey red.
“Again? We’ve been at it for hours, Cam. And I hide because someone,” I glance at him meaningfully, “takes my controller every time I’m about to beat him.”
Riley snickers at this, but I shut him up by glaring playfully at him and saying loudly, “And because another someone starts to change teams every time he’s about to get cornered.”
They both look at me sheepishly, Cameron grinning more so than Riley.
