“Whoa, scary” Matilda cried as she read a news article about the recent abductions. “You better be careful Arisa. I hear this creep is abducting teenage girls with blonde hair and green eyes! A perfect picture of you right?” Arisa sighed. ‘I’m so over this abduction talk, I’m not going anywhere.’ She thought, annoyed. “Don’t worry, I’ll be extra careful.” Arisa said reassuringly. Matilda smiled and ran towards the science laboratories for class.

Arisa quickly grabbed her books and ran towards her forensic science class. ‘I’m going to be late if I don’t hurry!’ She thought frantically. The classroom was in sight. Arisa ran towards the door and opened it forcefully. ‘Mrs. Scart, is she here yet?’ Arisa walked calmly into the classroom, looking around to see if she was going to be in trouble for being late again. “Mrs. Scart isn’t here yet.” Arisa jumped. “Oh, it’s you Cameron. You shouldn’t surprise girls like that, we’re fragile you know.” Arisa said.  “Since when has a stubborn high school girl like you been fragile?” Cameron laughed. “Flattery isn’t going to get anywhere.” Arisa snapped back sarcastically.

Suddenly, the door opened and Mrs. Scart walked in. Arisa scurried to her desk and placed her books down while Mrs. Scart connected her laptop to the projector. The projector screen flashed and then the picture slowly appeared. On the screen was a news paper article about the recent abductions. ‘Damn it. Not this again.’ Arisa thought while reading the article. “Good afternoon everyone,” Mrs. Scart said in the same high pitch tone that she always talked with. “I’m guessing you’ve all heard about the recent teenage girl abductions, right? Well, today we’re going to read some of the articles that have been written and watch some of the news reports on these events.” An online video appeared on the blurry projector screen. Mrs. Scart stated that it was aired 2 weeks ago, after the second abduction. The video buffered for a minute and then started to play.

“I’m here outside the house where the second victim has been abducted. This victim is a 15 year old girl named Maria Hartog. On the day Maria was abducted she is said to have been wearing black jeans, a grey long sleeved t-shirt with her blonde hair in a high ponytail. If you believe you have seen Maria or may be in possession of any useful information, please contact police.” Mrs. Scart paused the video and turned to the class. “Does anyone know where Maria was abducted from?” She asked. A boy in the back of the class raised his hand. “Wasn’t she taken outside her home when she was walking back from a friends place or something?” He asked quietly. Mrs. Scart nodded silently and started to speak again.

“Maria was abducted from outside her home while her parents were inside. The parents reported that they didn’t even know that their daughter was outside. How do you think the abductor took Maria without anyone hearing or seeing anything?” The classroom fell silent and the students started to whisper awkwardly to each other. Arisa contemplated her answer seriously just in case Mrs. Scart asked her. “Arisa, do you know the answer?” Mrs. Scart asked in a hopeful tone. ‘Of course.’ Arisa thought before starting to answer. “He could have hidden around the house before knocking her unconscious or he could have been in an unsuspicious car that was still able to hide a girl and somehow got her to talk to him or help him. There are a lot of possibilities.” Arisa stated. Mrs. Scart smiled at Arisa, looking impressed with her answer. “Yes, there are a lot of possibilities. Well done Arisa!” The students focused again when Mrs. Scart continued the video. “We would like to give warning to all young girls fitting the description that has been provided. Young girls with blonde hair, green eyes, and a fit build should be wary of strange persons and should walk in groups at all times. Please contact the police for any further questions you may have regarding this case.” The video ended and Mrs. Scart turned off the projector. Newspapers were handed out and the students were instructed to read the articles written about the abductions. “Okay, students. Class is almost over so clean up the newspapers and stack the chairs before the home bell goes.”
