Annabeth POV

White. It's all white. Pain. Nothing but pain.

I wake up to this.

After my eyes adjust, I see Percy sitting on a hospital chair, thinking hard. I try to sit up, but my head pounds so much that I feel like a thousand bricks are sitting on top of it. I groan and his head snaps up. "Annabeth?"

He comes up to me, "Your head hurts, doesn't it?" I close my eyes, unable to nod. "Okay, she said the drugs would wear off soon, and that she can give you another round," he says, then brushes hair away from my face.

The doctor comes in and sticks another needle in my hand for the drugs. It hurts at first, nothing like my head though, but then feels like a cloth is blocking my thoughts as they take affect.

"She'll feel loopy but make sure she doesn't touch her head, being on drugs can numb the pain so she could press on it to hard," the nurse tells Percy than leaves the room.

Percy POV

"The room's so pretty," Annabeth says, "all the colors!" I laugh, the room's white. She starts swaying, "I'm in a boat!" Laughing, I steady her and she puts her hand on my hair. "Your hair's so soft!"
"Yeah okay," I say, taking her hand off my head. "I wanna go to bed!" She exclaims. "Then go to bed," I say. "I can't yet," she says, like it's obvious. "Why can't you? I can turn off the lights."

Her surprising response is what gave our relationship a new meaning,

"Because he hasn't beaten me yet."
