PART ONE

Expectation-

Alice's POV

I woke up to the flavorful smell of buttermilk pancakes lightly dusted with butter. My mothers famous "I'm sorry you have another first day of school this year" breakfast. You see, we move around a lot because of me, or more accurately, what's hidden deep within me. The world knows about the supernatural now because an alpha prince had a human mate. She just had to be the presidents daughter as well, yay for us. It came as a huge shock that such a powerful alpha would be paired to a human. Most were creatures are mated to other were creatures, so the moon goddess definitely had something in mind with their pairing. I guess she was just as sick of keeping the secret as we were. 

So anyway, while the alpha was getting to know his mate, they ended up going to a party her family was hosting. The White House was hosting this particular party, and a guy flirted with her the entire night without relent. You would think an elitist invited to such a prestigious party could pick up on social cues, but he never suspected the girl was in a serious relationship. In such an alpha way, he assumed that the boy could sense his claim proudly presented on her neck so he left her unattended for a while. It never seemed to occur to the mighty alpha that his "proud" mark looked like a hickey to the untrained eye. I can't say that I blame the guy for thinking she was easy, what with the mark and the way she dressed. Anyway, the alpha later came back with some drinks to see the guy kissing her against her wishes, the poor guy. He flipped and shifted into his unnatural looking wolf right there ready to kill the poor boy. His size alone made sure that the event couldn't be explained away, and that's not even counting his actual shift. Luckily his mate stopped him, as I know I wouldn't want that stigma over my entire species. Just imagine at the coming out party, someone is killed by a ferocious wolf, no one would ever trust us. At least they can say we came out with a big bang. After the were species came out, it was the vampires turn to come out about who they were. They now only drink animal blood for their own protection from human weapons. Most of them work with the police for their stronger senses that they posses. Not many people, including the supernatural can get away from a vampire. Their speed is ranked high, as well as their speed and sense of smell. Anyway, humans now use the supernatural to help out with all their little problems they can't handle.

Of course their are shifters that humans don't know about. The supernatural council thought it best to... hide a few rare species. They knew that revealing the entirety of the supernaturals would cause widespread panic and calls for a witch hunt. They didn't believe the humans​ could handle the overload of more powerful beings since they once believed they were on the top of the food chain. they know about the more widespread species, but we rare folk like to keep hidden, so it works out well. I am lumped into the hidden category, and am what you would call extremely special. Because of what I am, my family has to move anytime someone suspects what I really shift into, even if it's another supernatural. It's not my fault wolves are territorial bastards. I can't help that some genetic code got messed up in me, making me into a werecat. Is it?
