I dedicate this short story to my best friend Sarah. Deuces!

The rain was falling roughly that Saturday morning. I sat on my bed reading Catch-22. Caden always tells me to read it. Finally taking his advice I started to read it and I love it so far. The plot is so amazing and now I know why he talks about it so much. My older sister knocks on my door.

"Rory?" She asks through the door.

"Come in!" She opens the door and lies next to me on my bed. I put my bookmark in my spot and close the book. "Yes Roselyn?"

"Where's lover boy?" She questions.

"On his own vacation, with his own family and stop calling him lover boy." I lightly hit her with my book and re-opened it.

"He's in loooooooooveeeeee with you!" Roselyn laughs. I think of mom when she laughs. Their laughs are the exact same but I quickly push that thought into the back of my mind. Suddenly there was a thud on my window. We both turned to the window. Roselyn got up and opened the window. She looked out and giggled.

"What?" I raised one eyebrow.

"Look for yourself." She walked out of my room still chuckling quietly to herself. I stuck my head out the window and looked down.

"RORY!" The person yelled.

"WHO ARE YOU?" I yelled over the rain.

"IT'S CADEN!" They shouted.

"CADEN? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I screamed down to him. He said something inaudible. "WHAT? JUST COME TO THE DOOR!"

He gave me a thumbs up. I closed the window and ran past my sister to the front door. I when to open the door Caden was standing there with his arms open. His usual faded NAVY sweatshirt, jeans, and converse. Without warning, he picked me up and twirled me around. I squealed like a little girl.

"I thought you were going to be in the mountains for the rest of vacation?" I asked when he set me down.

"I just missed you so I'm back." He smiled and slipped his arms around my waist.

"I'm happy you're back but you're getting me wet." I laughed.

"Maybe that was the point of the whole rocks at your window thing." His smile never leaving his face. "Or just to ask it you wanna dance in the rain."

"I'm not dancing in the rain." I crossed my arms. "I'm not getting sick."

"That's why I'm now going to option B." I was lifted off my feet and tossed over his shoulder. He ran into the street and into the rain.

"No!" I laughed. "Roselyn help me!"

"Nope! Have fun!" She shuts the door but went to the window to watch. Caden puts me down and walked farther down the road.

"Where are you going?" I yelled from my spot in front of my house.

"Come on!" He motions. "We're going somewhere."

I considered my options. Go with Caden and have fun or go back home and read Catch-22 by myself...Caden it is.

"Fine!" I jogged to him and tried to hide my scar by pressing my arm against my side. I awkwardly shifted the t-shirt closer to my neck. "Can not believe you're making me walk in the rain in only a t-shirt and sweatpants."

He pulled his sweatshirt off. "Arms up!" I put my hands up and he put his sweatshirt over my head. Luckily he didn't notice the scar. Once he got it on me I stood on my tippy toes and kissed him.
